Airkenya Express is an airline based in Nairobi, Kenya. It operates domestic scheduled and charter services, as well as scheduled flights to Tanzania. Its main base is Wilson Airport, Nairobi. [1]

Airkenya Express was formed and started operations in 1987 from the merger of Air Kenya and Sunbird Aviation. The two companies had over 20 years of general aviation experience in East Africa. Airkenya Aviation became Airkenya Express in January 2007. The airline is wholly owned by a Kenyan-controlled consortium and has 165 employees. [1] It carried 100,000 passengers in 2014, as against 120,000 in 2013. [2]

AirKenya has two wholly owned subsidiaries: Regional Air Services in Tanzania launched in 1997 and AeroLink in Uganda launched in 2012. [2]

Mombasa Air Services, a Kenya air charter firm, was created when John Cleave purchased Rapid Air, a Civil Aviation Board licensed air charter firm with bases in Nyeri and Diani Beach. Flight operations were switched to the coast city of Mombasa, to serve the newly growing coast tourism industry and the company name was changed to Mombasa Air Services. During the seventies, eighties and nineties, Mombasa was restricted by existent colonial legislation, from receiving international scheduled services, which were all directed to the capital city of Nairobi. During the seventies and eighties, the Kenya coast was a recently discovered exotic tourism destination and direct charter flights from Europe grew rapidly and many new beach hotels were built to receive an increasing number of tourist arrivals from Europe.

Angama Mara Airport is a small airport near Angama Mara in Narok County, Kenya. The airport serves the local areas of the Maasai Mara, national park and nature reserve. The airport was formerly known as Angama Mara Airstrip. In August 2021, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) began phased improvements and expansion to convert it to a fully fledged airport.
