Airline is an American reality television series that showcases the daily happenings of passengers, ground workers and on-board staff members of Southwest Airlines. The series debuted on January 5, 2004 on A&E and ran for three seasons. [1] It was narrated by Tim Flavin. [2]

Premise

The series is focused on the passengers and flights originating out of Southwest Airlines focus cities at Baltimore-Washington International, Chicago Midway, Houston's Hobby Airport and Los Angeles International. The series also follows customers in all types of moods and situations, and also takes a look at employees both on and off the job. [4] [5] [6]

William P. Hobby Airport is an international airport in Houston, Texas, 7 miles (11 km) from downtown Houston. Hobby is Houston's oldest commercial airport and was its primary commercial airport until Houston Intercontinental Airport, now George Bush Intercontinental Airport, opened in 1969. After the opening of Houston Intercontinental, Hobby was closed for several years before it became apparent it needed to be reopened. It became a secondary airport for domestic airline service as well as a regional center for corporate and private aviation.

The series is based on a British series of the same name. The British series followed the employees of Britannia Airways in its first season and EasyJet airlines in subsequent seasons. [7]

Britannia Airways was a charter airline based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1961 as Euravia and became the world's largest holiday airline. Britannia's main bases were at London Gatwick, London Stansted, London Luton, Cardiff, Bristol, East Midlands, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh, and Glasgow and had its headquarters at Britannia House in Luton, Bedfordshire.

EasyJet British low-cost airline

EasyJet Airline Company Limited, styled as easyJet, is a British low-cost airline headquartered at London Luton Airport. It operates domestic and international scheduled services on over 1,000 routes in more than 30 countries. EasyJet plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. easyGroup Holdings Ltd is the largest shareholder with a 34.62% stake. It employs nearly 14,000 people, based throughout Europe but mainly in the UK.

US Airways was a major American airline that ceased to operate independently when the Federal Aviation Administration granted a single operating certificate (SOC) for US Airways and American Airlines on April 8, 2015. Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) was a United States airline headquartered in San Diego, California, that operated from 1949 to 1988. It was the first large discount airline in the United States. PSA called itself "The World's Friendliest Airline" and painted a smile on the nose of its airplanes, the PSA Grinningbirds. Boeing Commercial Airplanes Designs, assembles, markets and sells commercial jet aircraft

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is a division of the Boeing Company. Pacific Air Lines

Pacific Air Lines was an airline on the West Coast of the United States that began scheduled passenger flights in the mid 1940s under the name Southwest Airways. The company linked small cities in California with larger cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco. Flights later operated to Portland, Oregon, and eventually reached Las Vegas and Reno in Nevada.

Flight Attendant School was a 2006 TV show on the Travel Channel that documented the lives of future Frontier Airlines flight attendants in training. The show consisted of 18 half-hour episodes, of which two were aired weekly.

Untied.com

Untied.com is a website critical of United Airlines that logs complaints from passengers. The name untied.com transposes two of the letters of the name "United" and also suggests disorder. Kevin Simpson of the Denver Post said in 2000 that "The Untied.com phenomenon mirrors the online trend in consumer activism that has caught on with the disgruntled flying public this summer travel season." In 1998 Laura Bly of the Los Angeles Times said that Untied.com was "One of the most visible efforts to chastise a travel company in cyberspace". In 1998 Jeremy Cooperstock, the website founder, said that Untied.com was "a Web site that offers frustrated former United Airlines passengers a chance to speak out."

Since its inception in 1967 and its early years when it was prevented from operating, Southwest Airlines has grown to be one of the largest airlines in the United States.
