Akure South is a Local Government Area in Ondo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Akure. [1]

The first two-term governor of Ondo state and the first Labour Party governor in Nigeria. Mimiko was previously a federal minister for housing and urban development, a secretary to the Ondo State Government, and a two-time Ondo State Commissioner for Health.
