Alcaston is a village in Shropshire, England.
Domesday Book is a manuscript record of the "Great Survey" of much of England and parts of Wales completed in 1086 by order of King William the Conqueror. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle states:
Then, at the midwinter [1085], was the king in Gloucester with his council .... After this had the king a large meeting, and very deep consultation with his council, about this land; how it was occupied, and by what sort of men. Then sent he his men over all England into each shire; commissioning them to find out "How many hundreds of hides were in the shire, what land the king himself had, and what stock upon the land; or, what dues he ought to have by the year from the shire."

HMAS Snipe (M1102) was a Ton-class minesweeper which served in the Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

Rupert James Betheras is a former Australian rules footballer and a contemporary artist, whose practice has largely been painting-based and also involved installation and sculpture. As a painter Betheras cut his teeth as a teenage graffiti artist on the streets of Melbourne.
Kathleen Petyarre was an Australian Aboriginal artist. Her art refers directly to her country and her Dreamings. Petyarre's paintings have occasionally been compared to the works of American Abstract Expressionists Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, and even to those of J.M.W. Turner. She has won several awards and is considered one of the "most collectable artists in Australia". Her works are in great demand at auctions. Petyarre died on November 24, 2018, in Alice Springs, Australia.
Melbourne Savage Club is a private Australian gentlemen's club founded in 1894. Bohemian in spirit, the club was to bring together literary men, and those immediately connected or sympathising with literature, the arts, sport or science. Its membership is particularly secretive with a strong code of silence; members are traditionally the elite or 'savages' in the arts, business and politics. Travelling savages enjoy good fellowship through reciprocal arrangements with other private clubs throughout the world.
Cadland (1825–1837) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career that lasted from April 1828 to 1831 he ran twenty-five times and won fifteen races, with several of his wins being walkovers in which all of his opponents were withdrawn. In the summer of 1828 he ran a dead heat with The Colonel in the Derby, before winning the race in a deciding run-off. He went on to have a long and successful racing career, winning a further eleven races before his retirement, and developing a notable rivalry with his contemporary Zinganee. Cadland was disappointing as a sire of winners in England and was exported to France, where he was much more successful. He died in 1837.
John Burley was an English lawyer and a knight of the shire (MP) for Shropshire six times from 1399. He was a justice of the peace for Shropshire and sheriff of the county from 10 December 1408 – 4 November 1409. A key member of the Arundel affinity, he helped muster forces to combat the Glyndŵr Rising and died a short time after accompanying Thomas Fitzalan, 12th Earl of Arundel on Henry V's first expedition to France.

Acton Scott is a civil parish in Shropshire, England. It contains 17 listed buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England. Of these, two are listed at Grade II*, the middle grade of the three grades, and the others are at Grade II, the lowest grade. The parish contains the villages of Acton Scott, Marshbrook, and Alcaston, and is otherwise rural. The listed buildings include a church and items in the churchyard, a country house and associated structures, other houses, a farm, part of which has been converted into a museum, a bridge, two milestones, and a telephone kiosk.
Sandy Brumby is an Aboriginal artist whose work rapidly became popular following the start of his career late in life. His work became collectable very quickly as his natural approach to the stark contrasting colours he used explored an unhurried fascination with storytelling juxtaposed with a meditative self examination of the mindset of the first people of Australia.
