Alexander James Mellor (born 22 July 1991) is an English cricketer who most recently played for Warwickshire. He is a left-handed batsman who also plays as a wicket-keeper.
Mellor joined Warwickshire from Staffordshire at the end of the 2015 season. [1]
On 28 July 2016,Mellor joined Derbyshire on loan from Warwickshire,after regular wicket-keeper Harvey Hosein fractured his thumb. [2] He made his Twenty20 debut for Derbyshire,on 29 July 2016,against Durham. [3]
During the 2017 season,Warwickshire recalled Mellor as back up to the injured Tim Ambrose. However,having also been promoted to open the batting he was unable to take his opportunity,and averaged just 9.83 across three country championship matches.

The 2017 Royal London One-Day Cup tournament was a limited overs cricket competition that forms part of the 2017 domestic cricket season in England and Wales. Matches were contested over 50 overs per side and had List A cricket status. All eighteen First-class counties competed in the tournament which ran from the end of April with the final taking place at Lord's on 1 July. Nottinghamshire won the tournament,defeating Surrey in the final. The defending champions were Warwickshire.

However,the season was heavily disrupted by the global COVID-19 pandemic,with no county cricket fixtures played until August. For the shortened season,the majority of counties voted on 7 July to play first-class and Twenty20 cricket,with the Royal London One-Day Cup being cancelled. Instead of the County Championship this year,the 18 first-class counties competed for the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy,which consisted of three regional groups of six teams and a final at Lord's.
