"All I Want" is the first single by A Day to Remember from their fourth studio album What Separates Me from You . It was released officially to radio stations in October 2010, and as a commercial single, albeit a limited edition 7" vinyl, in April 2011. In August 2016, the song was certified gold in the U.S. by the RIAA.

Composition

Unlike the band's more-known metalcore sound which incorporates growling vocals and breakdowns, the song uses almost none of these attributes, and instead shows a direction towards fast-paced pop punk with clean vocals. Lead vocalist Jeremy McKinnon wrote the lyrics, while the music was written by himself, guitarist Kevin Skaff and A Day to Remember. [2] McKinnon stated that the song is about "taking chances, and doing what you think is right regardless of what people might think. To be honest, whats more important? Live life, and be happy with yourself". [3] McKinnon said in a 2011 interview with USA Today that the song is also "about being in a band." [4] The song, along with three others from the album, was mixed by David Bendeth. [2] As the choice of a single, guitarist Neil Westfall said "All I Want" "was a great transition song from 'Homesick'". [5]

Music video

The music video for the song, which was filmed in October 2010, [5] was released on January 6, 2011. [6] It features cameos of numerous popular bands and musicians. The cameos are: Tim Lambesis(as i lay dying) Tom Denney (A Day to Remember's former guitarist), Pete Wentz, Winston McCall of Parkway Drive, The Devil Wears Prada, Bring Me the Horizon, Sam Carter of Architects, Dallas Taylor from Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Silverstein, Andrew W.K., August Burns Red, Seventh Star, Matt Heafy of Trivium, Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil, Mike Herrera of MxPx, Vincent Bennet of The Acacia Strain, Veara, and Set Your Goals. [6] Rock Sound called the video "quite excellent". [6]

Release

The song was released as a radio single on October 12, 2010, [7] although it premiered a week earlier on October 7 on KROQ-FM radio's website, [8] which gave the site its most web traffic ever. [9] "All I Want" charted on both Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks and Hot Rock Songs charts, at number 12 and number 25, respectively. [10] A few days after the release of the music video for song, the band went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! , on January 11, 2011, and it became their national television debut [11] on which they performed "All I Want" and "Better Off This Way". [12] On April 16, the band released an exclusive 7" vinyl single of the song, especially for Record Store Day. [13] [14] The vinyl pressing was limited to 2,000 copies for the U.S. [nb 1] [16] and 1,000 copies for the international release [nb 2] [18] and featured an acoustic version of "All I Want" as the B-side. [19] The acoustic version was recorded at The Wade Studios, and was mixed by Andrew Wade. [19] "All I Want" is available to play on the Rock Band games as well as Rocksmith 2014 . [20] The song is also used as the theme song of Total Nonstop Action Pay Per View Victory Road 2011.

The DVD featured a performance of the band live at the Capitol, in the band's hometown, Ocala, Florida. The music video for "The Danger in Starting a Fire" was released in the same month, and the music video for "Since U Been Gone", which had been streamed on the band's Myspace, was released in July. For Those Who Have Heart was generally well received by music critics.

And Their Name Was Treason is the debut studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember, released on May 10, 2005 through Indianola Records. It followed their second self-released EP, which was produced the same year. The album was the band's only release under Indianola; its success led the group sign to Victory Records. Several songs on the album were written during the band members' teenage years. Recorded in the producer's bedroom, the album contains audio excerpts from several films. The band toured in the United States to help promote the album. The album has since sold over 10,000 copies. A re-recorded version of the album, titled Old Record, was released in October 2008 by Victory. The band members later admitted that they were forced to do the re-recording at the request of label owner Tony Brummel and were given two days to do so which resulted in them only re-recording the instrumentals and leaving the vocals as it was on the original album. The reissue charted at number 16 on the Heatseekers Album Chart in the U.S.

Homesick is the third studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember, produced by Chad Gilbert and the band, and released on February 3, 2009. It was the band's second album for Victory. The album features material written while the band had been touring, which Andrew Wade helped them demo. Recording took place between October and November 2008 at The Wade Studio, located in Ocala. Featured on the album are guest vocalists Mike Hranica, Vincent Bennett and Sierra Kusterbeck (VersaEmerge). Several of the album's songs appeared on the band's MySpace profile before the release of the album.

Common Courtesy is the fifth studio album of American rock band A Day to Remember that was self-released on October 8, 2013. Songs for the album were written mid-2011, recording starting in early 2012 and continued into the following March, and the recordings were mixed the same month. During that time, an unmixed version of "Violence " was streamed from the band's website. The band then embarked on the Right Back at It Again Tour in March 2013, performing the new song "Right Back at It Again" at each show. From mid August to late September, the band released webisodes to tie-in with the album. The band performed "Dead & Buried", another song that would appear on the album, at each show on their month-long House Party Tour, which began in September 2013.
