Almalu (Persian : المالو‎, also Romanized as Ālmālū; also known as Bāsh Ālmālū, Almāli Bāsh, Ālmālū Bāsh, and Alniāli-bāsh)^[1] is a village in Kuhestan Rural District, Qaleh Chay District, Ajab Shir County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 1,386, in 308 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Kuhestan Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in Qaleh Chay District, Ajab Shir County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 9,810, in 2,211 families. The rural district has 8 villages.

Qaleh Chay District is a district (bakhsh) in Ajab Shir County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 18,724, in 4,204 families. The District has no cities. The District has two rural districts (dehestan): Dizajrud-e Sharqi Rural District and Kuhestan Rural District.
