The men's super-G competition of the Sochi 2014 Olympics was held at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort, near Krasnaya Polyana, Russia, on Sunday, 16 February. [1]

Kjetil Jansrud of Norway won the gold medal and Andrew Weibrecht of the United States took the silver. Two bronze medals were awarded for the third-place tie between Jan Hudec of Canada and Bode Miller of the U.S. [2]

The vertical drop of the course was 622 m (2,041 ft), starting at an elevation of 1,592 m (5,223 ft) above sea level, with a length of 2.096 km (1.30 mi). Jansrud's winning time of 78.14 seconds yielded an average course speed of 96.565 km/h (60.0 mph), with an average vertical descent rate of 7.960 m/s (26.1 ft/s).

Jansrud's win was the fourth straight in this event for Norway, following Kjetil André Aamodt (2002, 2006) and Aksel Lund Svindal (2010).

The race was started at 10:00 local time, (UTC+4). At the starting gate, the skies were partly cloudy, the temperature was 1.0 °C (34 °F), and the snow condition was hard. The temperature at the finish was 5.1 °C (41 °F). [3]

Kjetil Jansrud is a Norwegian former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic champion. He competed in all alpine disciplines apart from slalom, and his best event was the giant slalom where he has six World Cup podiums and an Olympic silver medal. Since 2012, he had concentrated on the speed events, where all but two of his World Cup victories had come. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he won the super-G and placed third in the downhill. At the World Championships in 2019 at Åre, Jansrud won gold in the downhill.

The men's downhill competition of the Beijing 2022 Olympics was held on Monday, 7 February, at Yanqing National Alpine Ski Centre ski resort in Yanqing District. Beat Feuz of Switzerland was the champion, Johan Clarey of France was the silver medalist, and Matthias Mayer of Austria took the bronze. This was the first Olympic gold for Feuz and the first Olympic medal for Clarey. The men's downhill at the Olympics has yet to have a repeat champion. At the age of 41, Clarey became the oldest medalist in Olympic alpine skiing history.

The men's super-G competition of the Beijing 2022 Olympics was held on Tuesday, 8 February, on the "Rock" course at Yanqing National Alpine Ski Centre ski resort in Yanqing District. Matthias Mayer of Austria defended his 2018 title. Ryan Cochran-Siegle of the United States won the silver medal, and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway won bronze. For Cochran-Siegle and Aamodt Kilde this was the first Olympic medal.
