Amazonas Motos Especiais, commonly shortened to Amazonas or AME, was a Brazilian manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles. [1] [2]
In 1978, production of motorcycles began in plants in São Paulo and Manaus. [1] The vehicles were also exported to the USA and to Europe and Japan. [1] In 1986 there was a change of ownership. [1] From 1987, automobiles and kit cars were also produced. [1] Production ended in 1988. In total, about 700 motorcycles and a few cars were produced. [1]
The range included large motorcycles similar to those from Harley-Davidson. [2] An air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engine from VW do Brasil with 1600 cc displacement powered the vehicles. [3] A sidecar was available from 1982. [2]
In March 1987, the Porsche 550 replica was presented at a São Paulo International Motor Show. [1] A tubular frame formed the basis. [1] An open body made of fiberglass was mounted on it. [1] The VW engine with either 1600 cm³, 1800 cm³ or 2160 cm³ displacement was placed behind the seats in mid-engine design. [1] Production of 10 to 16 vehicles per month was planned. Already in the same year, the production of this model ended when Porsche decided to give the license to Chamonix NG Cars. [1]
In 2006, the company resumed activities with new models and with the collaboration of the Loncin Corporation, with its headquarters in the Manaus. [4]
No motorcycle has left the assembly line since 2009, after the partnership with the Chinese brand ended, the company went bankrupt. [5]

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), also known as The Race to the Clouds, is an annual automobile hillclimb to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado, USA. The track measures 12.42 miles (19.99 km) and has over 156 turns, climbing 4,720 ft (1,440 m) from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, to the finish at 14,115 ft (4,302 m), on grades averaging 7.2%. It used to consist of both gravel and paved sections, but as of August 2011, the highway is fully paved; as a result, all subsequent events will be run on asphalt from start to finish.

The fleet of flexible-fuel vehicles in Brazil is the largest in the world. Since their inception in 2003, a total of 30.5 million flex fuel cars and light-duty trucks were registered in the country, and over 6 million flexible-fuel motorcycles, both by March 2018. The KTM RC16 is a prototype grand prix racing motorcycle which was developed to race in the MotoGP series by KTM, starting from the 2017 season.
The Volkswagen T-Cross is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured by the German automaker Volkswagen. It is based on the MQB A0 platform shared with the Polo Mk6, and was officially launched in April 2019. Positioned below the T-Roc and alongside the Taigo/Nivus, it is the smallest SUV model from Volkswagen. It is also the second Volkswagen SUV model to sit in the B-SUV segment, after the T-Roc.
The RC250GP is a Grand Prix racing motorcycle designed and built by KTM for the Moto3 class, introduced in 2012. It is also used in the Moto3 Junior World Championship. The Volkswagen Taigo is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) with a sloping roofline manufactured by the German automaker Volkswagen. The vehicle was first released as the Volkswagen Nivus, which was unveiled in May 2020 in Brazil. It has been launched in other South American markets in 2021, and was released in Europe in July 2021 as the Taigo. It is positioned alongside the T-Cross in the European market, and below the T-Cross in South America.
The Volkswagen Taos is a compact crossover SUV produced by the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen. It was first released in October 2018 as the Volkswagen Tharu in China, while the Taos was released in October 2020 as a restyled version of the Tharu for the North America, South America, and Russia. The vehicle is positioned below the Tiguan, and in South America and China above the T-Cross.
