Amelia Thripura Henderson (born 20 October 1995 in Selangor) is a Malaysian-British actress, television presenter, YouTuber and model.

Early life

Amelia Thripura Henderson was born in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, and she is the daughter of a Malaysian Indian dentist mother of Ceylonese descent, Dr. Jaya Rudralingam and a Scottish architect father, Graham L. Henderson. [1] [2] [3] She has a younger brother named Alexander Rudrakeith Henderson. [3] Henderson is a Malaysian-British dual national as she attained British citizenship from her father through birth. Henderson is a member of Mensa International, with a certified IQ of 180. [1]

Personal life

Henderson wed a member of the Kedah royal family, Dato’ Indera Tunku Harrunnarasheed Putra bin Tunku Annuar in 2015. Following the wedding, Henderson was conferred the honorific form of address as "Yang Berbahagia Datin Indera Amelia Thripura Henderson". The couple divorced after 3 years of marriage in 2018. They have no children. [4]

Prior to her marriage with Tunku Harrunnarasheed Putra, Henderson embraced Islam and adopt the name Putri Noor Amelia Thripura Henderson Abdullah. After divorced with Tunku Harrunnarasheed Putra, Henderson renounced Islam, discontinued the usage of her Muslim name and converted back to Hinduism.

Controversy

In 2022, Amelia sparks a controversy when Idris Khan [lower-alpha 1] and herself breach a contract for A. Aida's drama project of Sekali Lagi Cinta Kembali. She would eventually brought the case to the court as she stated that she did "nothing wrong" in the process. [5] The court ruled A. Aida's side in April 2023 and herself was ordered to pay RM200,000 to the production. [6] She then won appeal in the High Court in October 2023 as the court ruled her side. [7] However, the court ordered her to pay RM10,000 compensation to the production. [8]

<i>Nur</i> (TV series) 2018 Malaysian drama series

Nur is a 2018-2019 Malaysian television series directed by Shahrulezad Mohameddin, starring Amyra Rosli as the title role and Syafiq Kyle as Ustaz Adam. The series focuses on the relationship between a pious man and a prostitute who practices her faith in an unconventional manner. The premiere episode garnered 11 million viewers and became a controversy during its run. The series premiered on TV3 from 14 May 2018 to 14 June 2018 during the Ramadhan.
