Amey Wagh (born 13 November 1987) [1] is an Indian Marathi actor known for films such as Popat, Faster Fene , Muramba , Girlfriend . [2] [3] He was recently seen portraying Kushal in season 2 of Sacred Games and Balvir Subeir in Asur- Welcome to Your Dark Side and Asur 2.

Early life

Wagh studied in Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, Pune. He began actively participating in play competitions since he began college. [4] He lived in a joint family in Pune, consisting of around 65 members. His family was in the transport business. [5]

Career

Wagh is part of the theatre group, Natak Company . [2] He auditioned for the role of Chatur in 3 Idiots (2009) but was rejected. [6] He made his Bollywood debut in 2012 through the movie, Aiyyaa , where he played Nana. [7] He made his marathi film debut through Sangeeta Pusalkar's directorial, Aaicha Gondhal (2008), starring Kuldip Pawar, as his father and Nirmiti Sawant, as his mother. In 2014, he was in an English play titled The Government Inspector. [8] In the same year he was also seen in Shutter (2014). He was also in the play Bombed in 2015. [9] The Marathi play, Amar Photo Studio, had Wagh in a lead role. [10] He also starred in two popular Marathi TV serials Dil Dosti Duniyadari and its sequel Dil Dosti Dobara . He also hosted Zee Marathi Awards 2015-Utsav Natyancha Aplya Maitricha along with Pushkaraj Chirputkar.

He hosted the show Super Dancer Maharashtra in 2018. [11] He also co-hosted Jio Filmfare Awards Marathi 2018, alongside Suvrat Joshi. [12] He is part of the YouTube channel Bharatiya Digital Party, where he hosts a celebrity talk show called Casting Couch with Amey & Nipun. [13] He was ranked 5 in the Times of India-Pune's Most Desirable Men list in 2018. [14] His movie, Girlfriend, has released in July 2019. [15] He hosted the food show Mrs.Annapurna (2014) on ETV Marathi and the dance reality show 2 MAD (2017) on Colors Marathi.[ citation needed ]He has also acted in the movie Mee Vasantrao, which was releasing on 1 May 2020 but is postponed due to the lockdown in India.

He was awarded Vinod Doshi fellowship in performing arts in 2015. [30] He won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (male) in the Filmfare Awards Marathi 2018, for Muramba. [31]

Personal life

He was born in Pune, Maharashtra. He was in a relationship with Sajiri Deshpande for 13 years before eventually marrying her on 2 July 2017 at Shrutimangal, Pune. [32]

Philanthropy

He, along with Sunil Barve, donated the money from two shows of Amar Photo Studio to Chief Minister's Relief Fund in 2018. [33]

Faster Fene is a 2017 Marathi-language crime thriller film directed by Aditya Sarpotdar The film stars Amey Wagh in and as Faster Fene, based on the character created by Bhaskar Ramachandra Bhagwat and also stars National Award winning actor Girish Kulkarni in a negative role. Amar Photo Studio is a two-act Marathi play directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari, featuring Amey Wagh, Sakhi Gokhale, Suvrat Joshi, Pooja Thombre and Siddhesh Purkar. The first show was on August 13, 2016 at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, Kothrud. It was written by Manaswini Lata Ravindra. The play is produced by Subak, in association with Kalakarkhana. Sakhi Gokhale was replaced by Parna Pethe after the 250th show.

Manaswini Lata Ravindra is a Marathi playwright, screenwriter and director, known for writing the play Amar Photo Studio and also being one of the writers of the Marathi sitcom Dil Dosti Duniyadari. In 2016, she is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for her short story collection, Blogchya Aarshyapallyad.

Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari is a Marathi writer, actor, and director. He is known for the revival of Sangeet Natak(Musicals) and long five act plays.

Natak Company is a Pune-based theatre troupe. Its previous members include Nipun Dharmadhikari, Alok Rajwade, Amey Wagh, Siddharth Menon, Abhay Mahajan and Parna Pethe. In 2018, the group celebrated its 10th anniversary by organising a theatre festival at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, Kothrud.

Girlfriend a 2019 Marathi language film is directorial debut of Upendra Sidhaye, starring Amey Wagh, Sai Tamhankar, Isha Keskar, Uday Nene, Yatin Karyekar and Kavita Lad. The film is produced by Anish Joag, Ranjit Gugle, Kaustubh Dhamane, Ameya Patil, Salil Milind Datar and Afeefa Nadiadwala, under the banner of Huge Production, Pratishad Production and Triple Ace Production. It was theatrically released on 26 July 2019.

The 4th Filmfare Marathi Awards is a ceremony, presented by Jio, honored the best Indian Marathi-language films of 2017.
