Amit Dutt is an Indian painter from New Delhi, [1] his paintings depict diverse facets of human nature and the social interdependence of man through multiple ties. He has done several national and international exhibitions in both solo and group format. [2] His paintings are in collection of many art collectors in Indian and abroad, including Rashtrapati Niwas Shimla and National Gallery of Modern Art. [3] [1]

He has received many awards for his notable work including Lalit Kala Akademi Award, the highest award honoured by the Government of India for visual arts, [4] and Sahitya Kala Academy Award. [5] [6]

Career

Amit has completed 5 years Diploma in Fine Arts from Shilpa Bharti Institute of Fine Art, New Delhi. [1] A course in carpet designing led him to Art School. He is a contemporary artist whose most of the works are in acrylic and mixed medium on canvas and paper in the modern art category. [7] [5]

He has participated in many solo and group shows inside and outside the country. [2] [6] His recent international exhibition Identity was organized by Arth International and KL City Art gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2020. [3]

Amit has also conceptualized an app with the name ArtSutra that helps the viewer to see the artwork on their phone including the crafting of their favorite artwork. The app is available both on android and iOS operating systems. [8]

Prayag Jha Chillar, also known as Prayag Jha, is a contemporary Indian artist, who specialized in etching. Her works are kept in collections all over India, including the National Gallery of Modern Art in the capital, Delhi. Jha's work was showcased in solo exhibitions from 1971 to 2012 across Jehangir Art Gallery, Taj Art Gallery, Bajaj Art Gallery, and Art Heritage New Delhi. Her work depicts scenes from the ancient Indian epic Meghdoot and is inspired by natural forms, such as grass and leaves. Jha's earlier works were primarily monochrome, but have evolved to include strong colors.

Sankho Chaudhuri was an Indian sculptor, and a noted figure in the art scene of India. (Although named Naranarain in due family tradition, he was more widely known by his pet name Sankho). Ram Kinker Baij was his teacher. He began close to cubism and then was influenced by István Beöthy, whom he had met in Paris. His themes have included the female figure and wildlife. He has worked in a wide range of media and produced large-scale reliefs and mobiles.

Pratiksha Apurv is an Indian painter, whose work is based on her uncle Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho)'s teachings. Before moving to painting, she was a successful fashion designer. Apurv won the National Award 2015-16 given by the Lalit Kala Akademi, Ministry of Culture for her painting 'Cosmic Balance', and has exhibited her artwork across the country. Her artwork has featured in books and magazines, and in 2018 she wrote and illustrated her own book, The Mystic and Her Colours.

Bikash Bhattacharjee was an Indian painter from Kolkata in West Bengal. Through his paintings, he depicted the life of the average middle-class Bengali – their aspirations, superstitions, hypocrisy and corruption, and even the violence that is endemic to Kolkata. He worked in oils, acrylics, water-colours, conté and collage. In 2003, he was awarded the highest award of Lalit Kala Akademi, India's National Academy of Arts, the Lalit Kala Akademi Fellowship.

Biman Bihari Das is an Indian sculptor and former Principal of the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2014, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his services to the field of Fine Arts.

Dhanraj Bhagat (1917–1988) was an Indian sculptor, considered by many as one of the major sculptors of the Indian subcontinent. He was born in 1917 in Lahore, in the erstwhile British India and secured a diploma in sculpture from the National College of Arts, Lahore. His career started as a member of the faculty at the College of Art, Delhi in 1947 where he rose to the position of the head of the Sculpture Department by the time of his retirement in 1977.

Shanti Dave is an Indian painter and sculptor, considered by many as one of the major Indian artists of the twentieth century. He is a former member of the Lalit Kala Akademi and the Sahitya Kala Parishad. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1985.

Manu Parekh is an Indian painter, known for his several paintings on the city of Varanasi. Reported to be influenced by Rabindranath Tagore and Ram Kinker Baij, Parekh is a recipient of the 1982 Lalit Kala Akademi Award. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri, in 1991.

Ranbir Singh Bisht (1928–1998) was an Indian painter and the Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Lucknow University. Born in 1928 at Landsdowne in Garhwal, in the present day Indian state of Uttarakhand, he secured Drawing Teacher's Training Certificate and Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Lucknow. He conducted many solo shows in a number of Indian cities besides a show in New York and participated in group shows in Frankfurt and Tokyo. He was also a participant of the 4th Triennale at New Delhi in 1972.

Biren De (1926–2011) was an Indian painter of modern art, known for his paintings with tantric influences. His paintings were characterized by symmetrical patterns of geometry and the presence of tantric symbols such as mandala, phallus and vagina, reportedly representing masculine and feminine energies of the universe. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 1992.

Prabhakar Barwe was a pioneer of Modern Indian painting. He was active in Mumbai, India from the 1959 until his death in 1995. Jagadish Chandra Dey, also known as Jagdish Dey, is an Indian painter and printmaker, known for his unique style of surrealism, where the real and unreal coexist. He has been a member of many art societies and juries.

Shyamal Dutta Ray, also spelt as Shyamal Dutt Ray was a renowned Bengali contemporary painter. His paintings marked a pivotal moment in the history of the Bengal School of Art. When the Bengal school of art was first emerging, light and watery hues were the norm. He is recognised with bringing intensity to the medium of watercolours. Dutta Ray was also one of the founding members of the artists' collective Society of Contemporary Artists. He served as a teacher in the Jagadbandhu Institution. He was a recipient of the Gold Medal from the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in the year 1958. In 1982 he was honoured with the National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi. His pieces can be found in the collections of the Glenbarra Art Museum in Japan, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi, National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad, Chittagong University museum in Bangladesh and the Shilpa Kala Academy as well as Government College of Arts in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Rabindra Bharati University had honoured him with the Rabindra Bharati University Award in the year 1968. In addition, he received the Birla Academy of Art and Culture Award four times, in 1972, 1973, 1975 and 1978, respectively. Aside from that, Dutta Ray has garnered other prestigious honours, such as the 1988 Shiromani Kala Puraskar and the Special Commendation of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bangalore, Karnataka.
