Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning,first established as a technical school in 1922,and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today,Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school,offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. These colleges include College of Natural Sciences (CONAS),College of Health Sciences (CHS),College of Engineering Art &Design (CEDAT),College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (CAES),College Of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS),College of Humanities &Social Sciences (CHUSS),College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS),College of Veterinary Medicine,Animal Resources &Bio-security (COVAB),College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). In addition,Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.

Sulaiman Kyebakoze Madada is a Ugandan journalist and politician. He is the State Minister for the Elderly and the Disabled in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 1 June 2006. In the cabinet reshuffle of 16 February 2009,and that of 27 May 2011,he retained his cabinet post. He is also the elected Member of Parliament,representing Bbaale County,Kayunga District. He has represented that constituency continuously since 2001.
James Boliba Baba is a Ugandan politician and former diplomat. He is the current State Minister for Internal Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. He replaced Matia Kasaija,who was appointed State Minister of Finance for Planning. Prior to that,he served as the State Minister in the Office of the Vice President,from 2006 until 2011. On account of his cabinet ministerial position,he is also an ex-officio Member of Parliament (MP).
Ida Erios Nantaba is a Ugandan politician. She was the State Minister in the Uganda Ministry of Information and Communications Technology. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. Prior to that,from 15 August 2012 until 6 June 2016,she was Minister of State for Lands in the Cabinet of Uganda. Nantaba is also the elected Member of Parliament for Women in Kayunga District Constituency.

Before that,from 10 June 2016,until 14 December 2019,she served as the State Minister for the Environment in the Cabinet of Uganda. Dr Mary Kitutu concurrently serves as the elected Manafwa District Women's Representative,in the 10th Parliament.

She is the first female prime minister of Uganda.

He is also the elected Member of Parliament for Usuk County in Katakwi District,in the 10th Parliament (2016-2021).
Aisha Sekindi is a Ugandan educator and legislator. As of February 2022,she serves as Uganda's Minister of State for Water and the woman representative for Kalungu district in Uganda's eleventh parliament. She replaced Hon. Ronald Kibuule who handed over the office in July 2021. She held the same position in Uganda's tenth parliament. Politically,she is affiliated to the National Resistance Movement under whose ticket she contested in the 2016 general election,achieving victory over Aisha Naluyati Waligo of the Democratic Party Uganda (DP).
