Amparo "Weena" Lim (born 9 September 1969) is a Filipino badminton player who competed in the women's singles at the 1996 Summer Olympics. [1]
Amparo Lim was born on 9 September 1969, [1] one of five children to Jose "Dondo" V. Lim III and Remedios "Baby" P. Gana. Her elder brother Joey Lim was a basketball tournament organizer. [2] She was coached by Nelson Asuncion. [3]
Lim was the first Philippine badminton player to compete at the Olympics. [4] She participated in the women's singles category at the 1996 Summer Olympics but lost to Poland's Kataryna Krasowska in the first round by 6-11, 5-11. [1] She teamed with Kennie Asuncion to win the women's doubles title at the 1996 Australian Open and secured a bronze in women's singles. [5]
At the next year's Southeast Asian Games, the pair won a bronze medal in women's doubles and became the first Philippine pair to reach the quarter-finals of Vietnam Open. [5] [6] They also have won a bronze at the 2002 U.S. Open's women's double event. [5]
Lim was appointed the Philippine Sports Commissioner in 2000 following the resignation of Tisha Abundo and served in that capacity until March 2002. [7] [8]

Jiang Yanmei is a Chinese-born Singaporean badminton player. She competed at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics; 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games; and also 2006 Asian Games.

Rikke Olsen Siegemund is a retired badminton player from Denmark. She won the mixed doubles title at the World Junior Championships in 1992 and the girls' doubles title at the European Junior Championships in 1993.

Jwala Gutta is an Indian badminton player. Beginning in the late 1990s, she represented India at international events in both mixed and women's doubles. She has a total of 316 match wins in both the disciplines—the most by any Indian—and peaked at no. 6 in the world rankings. Gutta has won medals at numerous tournaments on the BWF circuit including a silver at the 2009 Superseries Masters Finals and a bronze at the 2011 World Championships.
Ashwini Ponnappa Machimanda is an Indian badminton player who represents the country at the international badminton circuit in both the women's and mixed doubles disciplines. She had a successful partnership with Jwala Gutta as the pair has won many medals in international events including a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and bronze medals at the Uber Cup and the Asian Badminton Championships. They were consistently ranked among the top 20 in the BWF World Ranking reaching as high as no. 10. Ponnappa and Gutta also won the bronze medal at the BWF World Championships in 2011, becoming the first Indian pair and women and only the second overall to win a medal at the World Championships.
Michelle Li is a Canadian badminton player from Markham, Ontario. Li is the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion and the first Canadian to win an individual gold medal in women's singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games. She has won gold in both singles and doubles at the Pan American Games and won the singles and team event titles from the Pan American Badminton Championships. As a competitor for Ontario, Li also won singles, doubles, and mixed team titles at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Chloe Noelle Magee is an Irish professional badminton player. She represented her country at the Olympic Games for three consecutive times in 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, and 2016 Rio de Janeiro. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, she became the first Irish woman to win a badminton match at the Olympics. She has been described as "the poster girl for Irish badminton". Together with her brother Sam Magee, she clinched a bronze medal at the 2017 European Championships, became Ireland's first medal at the European Badminton Championship. Misaki Matsutomo is a Japanese badminton player who is a doubles specialist. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic women's doubles alongside Ayaka Takahashi. Despite playing doubles, she was also a finalist in girls' singles at the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships in Mexico.

The Maldives International is an open international badminton tournament in Maldives organized by the Badminton Association of Maldives and sanctioned by the Badminton Asia Confederation and Badminton World Federation. This tournament has been an International Challenge level before it went into hiatus in 2014. This tournament held at the Malé sports complex, and offered world ranking points with total prize money US$15,000.
