Eliza Nathanael (born 27 May 1973) is an Indonesian retired badminton player who specialized in doubles events. [1]

Career

A solid international player throughout the 1990s, Nathanael had most of her early success in mixed doubles. She won titles at the China (1992), Hong Kong (1992), Thailand (1992), and French (1993) Opens with Aryono Miranat. They were bronze medalists at the 1993 IBF World Championships in Birmingham, England. Nathanael also won mixed doubles at the Southeast Asian Games in 1993 with Rudy Gunawan and in 1997 with Candra Wijaya.

In women's doubles Nathanael was competitive internationally with a variety of partners. She won the U.S. Open (1996), two Indonesia Opens (1996, 1997) and the Southeast Asian Games (1997) with Resiana Zelin. They were twice runners-up at the prestigious All-England Championships (1995, 1997), were quarter-finalists at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, and earned bronze medals together at the 1997 IBF World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Nathanael won women's doubles at the 1996 Asian Championships with another Indonesian teammate, Finarsih, and her third consecutive Indonesia Open title, in 1998, with Deyana Lomban.

Nathanael was a member of several Indonesian Uber Cup (women's international) teams including two which won back to back world team championships in 1994 and 1996.

World Junior Championships

The Bimantara World Junior Championships was an international invitation badminton tournament for junior players. It was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 1987 to 1991.

He has paired up with players such as Eddy Hartono, Rosiana Tendean, Bambang Suprianto, and Ricky Subagja. He was on the Thomas Cup team of Indonesia five times but only won gold in 1994 and 1996. In addition, he helped strengthen the Indonesian team in the race for 1989, Sudirman Cup.

As of 29 December 2007, he is a coach in the men's doubles category for the Indonesian badminton association (PBSI). He is currently the Indonesia national team men's doubles head coach.

Zelin Resiana is an Indonesian former badminton player who specialized in doubles. She trained at the Djarum club. For her achievements in badminton, a statue of her has been unveiled outside GOR Djarum in Tidar, Magelang, and inaugurated on 21 August 2015.

Deyana Gresye Susanti Lomban is a former Indonesian badminton player who also play for the PB Jaya Raya. She competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the women's doubles event partnered with Eliza Nathanael. Lomban who was partnered with Vita Marissa in the women's doubles event was part of Indonesia triumph by made a clean sweep of the five titles at the 2001 Indonesia Open. Lomban with her ability in jumping smash, had won four World Grand Prix titles with three different partners, winning German and Thailand Open in 1996 with Indarti Issolina; two times champion at the Indonesia Open in 1998 with Eliza Nathanael and in 2001 with Marissa. Lomban opted out from the national team in 2002, and moved to the United States in 2003. She then began her career as a badminton coach in 2009.

Sandiarto Liauw is a retired badminton player from Indonesia who specialized in doubles events. Started his career in Rejomulyo club in Semarang, Liauw was a champion at the 1996 World Cup in the mixed doubles event partnered with Minarti Timur.

Pornsawan Plungwech is a retired Thai badminton player who affiliate with Kasetsart University. She competed in women's singles at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, and at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
