Ursula Honour Smith married name Oakley (born 1934) is a former English international badminton player. [1]
She lived at 'Fernleigh' 15 Brunswick Sq Herne Bay Kent from age of ten. She attended La Sainte Union RC school in Herne Bay. [2] [3] She attended the University of Southampton, where she played for the university badminton team, winning the UAU championship in December 1952 in the Victory Hall of Loughborough College. [4] [5] In 1956 she worked at St George's Hospital when at The Lanesborough at Hyde Park Corner, as a nurse. [6] She visited France for 12 months in 1955 to learn French. [7]
Smith [8] was a winner of the All England Open Badminton Championships. She won the 1965 All England Open Badminton Championships women's singles. [9]
Smith competed in the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica winning the gold medal in the women's doubles and bronze medal in the singles. [10] She represented Herne Bay and Kent.
Donna Victoria Kellogg, is an English former badminton player. She is the European Champion, winning the women's doubles titles in 2000, 2006 and the mixed doubles title in 2008. She won the silver medal at the 2006 World Championships. Kellogg also won the women's doubles title at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and was part of the England winning team at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Badminton was introduced to Singapore by the British in the early 19th century. By the mid-1920s, the game became increasingly popular and spread quickly to the rest of the local population. Amid the rising popularity, badminton enthusiasts began forming clubs, or “parties”, to meet and play the game. It was during this period that the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) was established to promote the sport and organise competitions. The first official annual open championships was held in that period with the best players from the tournament such as E. J. Vass, Tan Chong Tee, Alice Pennefather and Ong Siew Eng were chosen to represent Singapore in the regional tournaments.
