The Thailand Open in badminton is an open international championships held in Thailand since 1984. It was halted in 1986, 1998, 2002, 2010, 2014, and 2021.

Contents

BWF categorised Thailand Open as one of the seven BWF World Tour Super 500 events in the BWF events structure since 2018. [1] In early 2021, there were two Super 1000 editions of the tournament, the 2020 Yonex Thailand Open and the 2020 Toyota Thailand Open. [2] Both events were part of the 2020 BWF World Tour. [2]

She competed at the 2010, 2014 Asian Games, also in four consecutive SEA Games, and was part of the team that won the women's team gold medals in 2011 and 2015 SEA Games.

Bodin Isara is badminton player and Rattana Bundit University's student from Thailand. He competed for Thailand at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Maneepong Jongjit but was defeated in the quarterfinals by Malaysia's Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong. In 2013, Isara switched from competing for the national squad to competing for the Granular Club, an independent badminton club in Thailand. Currently his partner is Nipitphon Phuangphuapet.

He won his first career Superseries title by winning the Denmark Open on 23 October 2016, becoming the first Thai to win a men's singles title in a Superseries Premier tournament. He is studying for a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Siam University.

Chou Tien-chen is a Taiwanese badminton player. He became the first local shuttler in 17 years to win the men's singles title of the Chinese Taipei Open in 2016 since Indonesian-born Fung Permadi won it in 1999. He won his first BWF Super Series title at the 2014 French Open, beating Wang Zhengming of China 10–21, 25–23, 21–19 in the finals. He is the record holder of three consecutive Hylo Open titles from 2012 till 2014.

She was part of the Chinese winning team at the 2021 and 2023 Sudirman Cup, 2020 and 2024 Uber Cup, and also at the 2016 Asia Team Championships. Dechapol Puavaranukroh is a Thai badminton player. He was a gold medalist at the 2014 BWF World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event with his partner Kittinupong Kedren. Dechapol claimed doubles titles at the 2017 SEA Games by winning the gold medal in the men's doubles with Kedren and in the mixed doubles with Sapsiree Taerattanachai. Together with Sapsiree, he won the silver and gold medals at the BWF World Championships in 2019 and 2021 respectively, became the first Thai pair who won the world title. The duo made a clean sweep of all three 2020 Asian leg titles in Thailand and all 2021 Bali leg titles, thus climbing to world number 1 in the BWF ranking. Lee Yang is a Taiwanese former professional badminton player. He is the Olympic men's doubles champion in 2020 and 2024, becoming the first unseeded men's doubles pair ever in Olympics history to win consecutive gold medals. Lee also won the bronze medals at the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games, as well at the 2023 Asian Championships. With his former partner Wang Chi-lin, they reached a career high as World number 2 in September 2022.

Kunlavut Vitidsarn is a Thai badminton player. He is the current men's singles World Champion as he won the gold medal at the 2023 World Championships, and a silver medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games. He was also three-times World Junior champion, winning in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He is nicknamed the "Three-Game God" because his playing style requires him to play three games long and always win in the end.
