The Malta International is an international badminton tournament held in Malta. This tournament has been a Future Series. Maltese National Badminton Championships already started in 1953.

For the badminton players, this tournament become a landmark for Uganda, because they can improved their point in world ranking and also in certain years, the points will be the Olympic Games qualification. Another tournament, Kampala International is a Future Series level since 2023.

The Giraldilla International is the name of an international badminton tournament, which is organized as an open championship of Cuba. The competition is held annually since 2000 and is now a young supraregional Badminton Championship. The organizer was the Cuban Badminton Association in cooperation with the Badminton Pan Am continental federation.

The Smiling Fish International is an open international badminton tournament held in Thailand. It is one of the most important tournaments in Thailand behind the Thailand Open and Thailand Masters. The name of the tournament comes from that of a Thai food company from Trang, where the competition is held. The tournament is also known as the Thailand Satellite and became an International Challenge level tournament in 2016. In 2023, the tournament was renamed as Thailand International Challenge.

The Peru International Series or Perú Future Series is an international open badminton tournament in Peru, established since 2015, organized by the Federación Deportiva Peruana de Bádminton, sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Pan Am. This tournament was held for the first time from 19 to 22 February 2015 at the Polideportivo 2, Centro de Alto Rendimiento, Villa Deportiva Nacional, in Lima. Bahrain International Series is an open international badminton tournament in Bahrain presented by the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation, and sanctioned by Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asia. This tournament has been a BWF International Series level, and a part of Bahrain International Badminton Festival. Another tournament for higher tournament level on Bahrain Festival is Bahrain International Challenge.

Josephine Yuenling Wu is a Canadian badminton player. She clinched three Pan American Games gold medals by winning the mixed doubles title in 2019 and 2023, and also the women's doubles title in 2023. At the Pan Am Championships, she won seven golds, and five silver medals since her debut at the tournament in 2016.

The North Korea national badminton team represents North Korea in international badminton team competitions. The team has participated once in the Sudirman Cup, which was in 1991. The team was ranked 31st in the leaderboards. The North Korean team made a rare public appearance after a long hiatus in competing when they participated in the 2019 Military World Games badminton team event in Wuhan, China. They have never medaled in any badminton tournament.

Malta competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
