Latvian National Badminton Championships

The Latvian National Badminton Championships is a tournament organized to crown the best badminton players in Latvia. They are held since 1964. [1]

Badminton Racquet sport

Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" and "doubles". Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court.

Badminton Europe (BE) is the governing body of badminton in Europe. It is one of the five continental bodies under the flag of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). It now has 53 member associations and 1 associate member. It was founded on 27 September 1967 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The principles of the games are that everyone can participate and therefore the event combines top sports and joyful student event. Nowadays the games gather around 1800–2000 students.

USSR National Badminton Championships are officially held since the year 1963. After the end of the Soviet Union, the majority of the former Soviet Republics started own championships like the Azerbaijani National Badminton Championships, Armenian National Badminton Championships, Georgian National Badminton Championships, Moldovan National Badminton Championships and Latvian National Badminton Championships.

Léonice Huet French badminton player

Léonice Huet is a French badminton player. Born in Dieppe, Seine-Maritime, she started her career in BadBonneval club, and in 2014 joined the CLT Orléans. She won her first senior international title at the 2016 Latvia International tournament in the mixed doubles event at the age of 16. Huet was part of the national junior team that won the mixed team title at the 2017 and 2018 European Junior Championships. She participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, helps the team Omega took the silver medal in the mixed team event.

Thom Gicquel Badminton player

Thom Mark Gicquel is a French badminton player. Born in Tours, he started playing badminton at aged six in his parents club. Gicquel made his debut in the international senior tournament at the 2015 Riga International in Latvia, finished as the men's doubles runner-up partnered with Thomas Baures. He was part of the national junior team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 European Junior Championships, and made it to the gold medal in 2017. He also won the gold medal in the boys' doubles event with Toma Junior Popov. At the 2018 European Men's Team Championships, he helped the team claim the bronze medal. Teamed-up with Bastian Kersaudy, they clinched the men's doubles gold at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. He captured a bronze medal at the 2019 European Games in the mixed doubles event with Delphine Delrue. Gicquel and Delrue reached a career high as world number 10 in the BWF World ranking in 9 March 2021. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The Latvia International or Latvia Riga International is an international badminton tournament held in Latvia since 2005, and has been an BWF International Series level.

Getter Saar is an Estonian badminton player, currently residing in Finland. She started playing badminton at the age of ten, and made a debut in the international tournament in 2007. As a single player she was the third on the pedestal at the Estonian Championships in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2015. Besides that, in 2010 and 2011 she was the Estonian junior champion in the women's singles, and in 2011 in the mixed doubles. Saar was a semi finalist in 2015 Riga International and the runner-up in 2019 Bulgarian International.

Ieva Pope is a Latvian badminton player. She competed at the 2015 and 2019 European Games.

Kristīne Šefere is a Latvian female badminton player. She is the most successful Latvian badminton player, winning 66 Latvian champion titles, including 53 individual titles and 13 team titles.

Filip Budzel is a Czech male badminton player from Sokol Klimkovice badminton club.

2018 European Mens and Womens Team Badminton Championships

The 2018 edition of the European Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships was held in Kazan, Russia, from 13 to 18 February 2018. This tournament also served as European qualification for the 2018 Thomas & Uber Cup.

The Latvia national badminton team represents Latvia in international badminton team competitions.

Jordan Hart is a Polish badminton player. Formerly she played for Wales and was the national team member since 2005. She made her international debut in 2009 Welsh International tournament. She has won seven Welsh National Championships title, 5 times in the women's singles event from 2016 to 2020, once in the mixed and women's doubles in 2012 and 2020 respectively. 2019 was the golden year for Hart, where she achieved title wins in many international tournaments, some of them were in Jamaica, Giraldilla, Carebaco, Latvia and Polish International tournaments.

The Baltic Sea Games was a multi-sport event between countries near the Baltic Sea. It was held on two occasions: first in 1993 then for a final time in 1997.

Valeree Siow Zi Xuan is a Malaysian badminton player who specialises in the women's doubles and mixed doubles events.

Low Yeen Yuan is a Malaysian badminton player. In 2021, she won three titles together with Valeree Siow in the women's doubles event.
