Maldives International

The Maldives International is an open international badminton tournament in Maldives organized by the Badminton Association of Maldives and sanctioned by the Badminton Asia Confederation and Badminton World Federation. This tournament has been an International Challenge level before it went into hiatus in 2014. [1] This tournament held at the Malé sports complex, and offered world ranking points with total prize money US$15,000. [2] [3] [4]

In 2010, India won two titles from the men's and women's singles event. Anand Pawar won the men's singles title after defeated Dinuka Karunaratne of Sri Lanka with the score 21–14, 21–18, while his compatriot Trupti Murgunde won the women's singles title after Ann Venice Alcala Malvinne of Philippines retired with a hamstring injury at the score 21–10, 11–3. [5] The men's doubles title goes to Pakistani Kashif Ali Sulehri and Rizwan Azam, [4] and the Japanese pair Chinami Okui and Yukie Sumida won the women's doubles title. Kennevic Asuncion and Karyn Velez won the mixed doubles title outlasted Sri Lanka's Udara Nayanajith and Renu Chandrika Hettiarachchige, 24–22, 17–21, 21–13. [6]

In 2011, Pablo Abián of Spain with his fast movement on the court, excellent physics, and speed of strokes managed to win the men's singles title. [7] The 15 years old, P. V. Sindhu produced a stunning performance to win the women's singles title. She beat Carolina Marín in the third round and Agnese Allegrini in the semi-final. [8] The men's, women's, and mixed doubles title goes to Singapore (Ashton Chen Yong Zhao and Derek Wong Zi Liang), Japan (Miki Komori and Nao Miyoshi) and Canada (Toby Ng and Grace Gao) respectively. [9]

In 2012, K. Srikanth emerged as the title winner by ending the men's singles final set in three games with a margin of 13–21, 21–11 and 21–16 of Zulfadli Zulkiffli. [10] Japan won three titles from the women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles event. [11] Raj Popat of Wales and Devi Tika Permatasari of Indonesia emerged as the winner of the mixed doubles title after defeating Sri Lanka’s Hasitha Chanaka and Kavindi Ishandika Sirimannage. [12]

In 2013, Indonesia managed to put 6 representatives in the final round, and won two titles in the men's singles and women's doubles event after created All Indonesian finals. Hanna Ramadini lost to Michelle Li of Canada in the women's singles final and Arya Maulana Aldiartama/Alfian Eko Prasetya defeated by the Taiwanese pair Tien Tzu-chieh and Wang Chi-lin. [13] Indian pair K. Nandagopal and Maneesha Kukkapalli clinched the mixed doubles title after registering a straight-game victory over Kim Dae-sung and Oh Bo-kyung of South Korea. [14]

She was also senior nationals doubles runner-up and junior national doubles champion. Trupti is also a five times South Asian Games gold medalist, including twice in singles in 2004 and 2006. Known for her deceptive strokes, she has also bagged 6 international titles in singles in BWF events from 1999 to 2014. Trupti is also a Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist in Team Event at Melbourne in 2006. She, along with Saina Nehwal, reached the semi-finals of the women's doubles event in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games but lost in the Bronze Medal Playoff.

Manu Attri is an Indian badminton player who currently plays men's and mixed doubles. He partners with Jishnu Sanyal for men's doubles events and previously partnered with B. Sumeeth Reddy. For mixed doubles events, he partners with N. Siki Reddy, and previously, K. Maneesha. He competed at the 2014 Asian Games, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Kukkapalli Maneesha is an Indian badminton player who currently plays women's and mixed doubles. She partners Sanyogita Ghorpade for women's doubles events and previously partnered with J. Meghana, P. V. Sindhu. For mixed doubles events she partners with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and previously, Manu Attri and K. Nandagopal.

Srikanth Kidambi is an Indian badminton player. A former world no. 1, Kidambi was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2018. and the Arjuna award in 2015. In 2021, he became the first Indian to reach the World Championship final in the men's singles discipline.

Devi Tika Permatasari is an Indonesian badminton player. In the mixed doubles event, she won international titles at the 2009 and 2013 Indonesia International, and the 2012 Maldives International. In the women's doubles event, she was the champion of the Auckland International.

Shevon Jemie Lai is a Malaysian badminton player.

The Lagos International also known as Lagos International Badminton Classics is an annual open international badminton tournament held in Lagos, Nigeria. This tournament established since 2014, organized by the Lagos State Badminton Association (LSBA) and Badminton Federation of Nigeria. The tournament sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA), and has grade as BWF International Challenge level with the total prize money $15,000. The classics is expected to help Nigerian players to improve their world ranking as well as play against some of the top rated players in the world, and it is also an opportunity to showcase the positive side of Lagos and Nigeria. It is also an intervention programme of the Lagos State Government, it is a series of international open sporting events geared towards attracting the best continental and global sports talents to the shores of the region. The Lagos State Government believes that the tournament is part of series of international sports events that will bring world stars to the state.

The 2020 BWF season was the overall badminton circuit organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the 2020 badminton season to publish and promote the sport. The world badminton tournament in 2020 consisted of:

The 2020 BWF World Tour was the third season of the BWF World Tour of badminton, a circuit of 26 tournaments which led up to the World Tour Finals tournament. The 27 tournaments are divided into five levels: Level 1 was the said World Tour Finals, Level 2 called Super 1000, Level 3 called Super 750, Level 4 called Super 500 and Level 5 called Super 300.
