Uganda International

The Uganda International is an international badminton tournament held in Uganda organised by Uganda Badminton Association. In 2008, this tournament have been sanctioned by Badminton World Federation as International Series rated event with total prize money US$5000. For the badminton players, this tournament become a landmark for Uganda, because they can improved their point in world ranking and also in certain years, the points will be the Olympic Games qualification. [1] [2] Another tournament, Kampala International is a Future Series level since 2023.

Kate Jessica Kim Lee Foo Kune is a badminton player from Mauritius. She began playing badminton in Mauritius at age six. Her first major tournament participation was 2013 BWF World Championships in China, where she lost in the first round of women's singles to Sarah Walker of England. Foo Kune represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was the flag bearer for Mauritius during the Parade of Nations.

The Mauritius International is an annual feature international badminton tournament held in Mauritius organized by Mauritius Badminton Association (MBA) and sanctioned by BWF. The tournament for most part and in recent years has been an International Series rated event, but in 2012 and 2013, rated as Future Series event. Another tournament, Rose-Hill International established in 2016 rated as Future Series event.

Prakash Vijayanath is a South African badminton player.

The South Africa International is an international badminton tournament held in South Africa organised by Badminton South Africa, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA). Since 2018, this tournament has been a BWF Future Series.

Mercy Mwethya Joseph is a Kenyan badminton player. She was selected among the 14 best African players to be a member of the Road to Rio Program organised by the BWF and Badminton Confederation of Africa, to provide financial and technical support to African players and the lead-up to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She was the women's doubles bronze medallist at the 2015 All-Africa Games, and has competed at the 2010, 2014, and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 2010 Thomas & Uber Cups Preliminaries for Africa were held in Kampala, Uganda, between 20 and 23 February and organised by Uganda Badminton Association. Nigeria and South Africa was the defending champion in men's and women's team events. This tournament serves as qualification stage for African countries for the 2010 Thomas & Uber Cup.

Edirimuni Dinuka Nishan Perera Karunaratne is a Sri Lankan badminton player.

Augustina Ebhomien Sunday is a Nigerian badminton player. She educated English and Literature at the Benson Idahosa University, and in 2015, she competed at the Summer Universiade In Gwangju, South Korea.

Aisha Nakiyemba is a Ugandan badminton player. She competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. She was the women's doubles bronze medalist at the 2019 African Games partnered with Gladys Mbabazi.

Chongo Ezra Mulenga is a Zambian badminton player. In 2013, he won the men's singles title at the Ethiopia International tournament. In 2014, he placed third at the Uganda International in the mixed doubles event partnered with Ogar Siamupangila. Mulenga represented his country at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Lagos International also known as Lagos International Badminton Classics is an annual open international badminton tournament held in Lagos, Nigeria. This tournament established since 2014, organized by the Lagos State Badminton Association (LSBA) and Badminton Federation of Nigeria. The tournament sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA), and has grade as BWF International Challenge level with the total prize money $15,000. The classics is expected to help Nigerian players to improve their world ranking as well as play against some of the top rated players in the world, and it is also an opportunity to showcase the positive side of Lagos and Nigeria. It is also an intervention programme of the Lagos State Government, it is a series of international open sporting events geared towards attracting the best continental and global sports talents to the shores of the region. The Lagos State Government believes that the tournament is part of series of international sports events that will bring world stars to the state.

Dona Lekha Shehani Handunkuttihettige is a Sri Lankan badminton player. She started to playing badminton at the age of 8. In 2009, she began to participate in the national badminton tournament, and in 2013, she won her first national title. She competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. In 2014, she was the runner-up at the Uganda International tournament in the women's singles event. In 2016, she won the singles title at the Ivory Coast International, and in 2017, she won doubles title at the Ethiopia International in the women's singles and doubles event. Shehani was graduated from the Convent of Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Uganda national badminton team</span> National badminton team representing Uganda

The Uganda national badminton team represents Uganda in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Uganda Badminton Association, the governing body for Ugandan badminton located in Kampala.

Elizabeth Mwesigwa is a Ugandan para-badminton player and she is ranked as the country's number one in the SL3 category. She won a gold medal at Uganda's para-badminton international in 2018. As of February 2020, she is ranked 12 worldwide in the Women's para-badminton SL3 Category by the Badminton World Federation.

The 2022 Thomas Cup qualification process is a series of tournaments organised by the five BWF confederations to decide 14 of the 16 teams which will play in the 2022 Thomas Cup, with Thailand qualifying automatically as hosts, and Indonesia qualifying automatically as trophy holder.

The 2022 Uber Cup qualification process is a series of tournaments organised by the five BWF confederations to decide 14 of the 16 teams which will play in the 2022 Uber Cup, with Thailand qualifying automatically as hosts, and China qualifying automatically as trophy holder.

The African Para-Badminton Championships is a tournament organized by the Para Badminton World Federation (PBWF) which has now merged with the BWF. This tournament is hosted to crown the best para-badminton players in Africa.
