Nancy, who is in love with Dinakar, marries a millionaire, Victor. Later, Dinakar marries his cousin, Vinaya. How Nancy reunites with Dinakar forms the rest of the story.
After Ezhil saw a special screening of Ramakrishna , he signed Jai Akash for his next film Amudhae. [3] [4] The film was to be produced by a thirty five person unit, which later became a twenty eight person unit. [5] [6] The film was based on novel written by Manimala. [7] Madhumitha was cast as the heroine. [8] The film was shot in several locations in Kerala including Alappuzha, Munnar, Kuttanad, Chalakudy and Vazhachal and also at Mumbai and Chennai. [6] [7] The filming was done within 35 days. [9]
Newcomer Sunil Xavier, who worked as an assistant to S. A. Rajkumar, composed the music for the film and lyrics by debutant Tamil Amudhan. [6] [10] The audio was launched at 18 February 2005 at Shree Theatre of Sathyam Cinemas. [9]
A critic from Sify opined that "The film lacks technical finesse and offers little in the way of surprise", praised the performances of Raj, Madhumitha, and Uma while criticising Jai Akash's "wooden", emotionless performance. [11] Malathi Rangarajan of The Hindu opined that "Flashes of brilliance and food for thought the story offers — you could disagree with the logic or feasibility of the proposition tabled, but the point is, it is something different". [12] Malini Mannath of Chennai Online wrote that "If he [Ezhil] had worked on the screenplay better, etched his characters in a more convincing way, and had a tighter grip on his narration, it would have turned out to be a more engaging entertainer". Prashanth Thiagarajan, known professionally as Prashanth, is an Indian actor, businessman, playback singer and film producer known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil films, he has also appeared in few Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam films. At the peak of his career in the late 1990s, Prashanth was one of the popular actors in South India. He has won a Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. The son of actor-director Thiagarajan, Prashanth began his career at 17 by appearing in the Tamil film Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990) and went on to feature in other films including Balu Mahendra's Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992), R. K. Selvamani's Chembaruthi (1992), K. Rushendra Reddy's Tholi Muddhu (1993), and Mani Ratnam's action-comedy Thiruda Thiruda (1993). Prashanth rose to stardom with Shankar's romantic comedy Jeans (1998) in which he played a dual role alongside Aishwarya Rai. The success of Jeans saw him garner opportunities to work in bigger film projects and in the late 1990s, he featured in a series of breakthrough films such as Kannedhirey Thondrinal (1998), Kaadhal Kavithai (1998), Jodi (1999) and Parthen Rasithen (2000).
Amar Choudary, known professionally as Jiiva, is an Indian actor and film producer who works mainly in Tamil cinema and a few Hindi and Malayalam films. He is the youngest son of film producer R. B. Choudary. He began his career as a child actor in 1991 in films produced by his father. He made his debut as a lead actor in his father's 50th production, Aasai Aasaiyai (2003). After Sivaji Ganesan, Jiiva is the only Tamil actor to have been awarded at the Cyprus International Film Festival, particularly for his performance in Raam (2005).
