Anand Kumar is a retired professor of sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University, an ex-member of the Aam Aadmi Party, he contested for Lok Sabha (India's lower house of parliament) from the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency in the 2014 Indian general election but lost to BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari. Academic career

Kumar received an MA in Sociology at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, 1972; an MPhil. in Sociology at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, 1975; and a PhD in Sociologists at the University of Chicago, 1986. [4] He was a lecturer in Sociology at BHU from 1979 to 1989, an Associate Professor of Sociology at JNU from 1990 to 1998, and has been a Professor of Sociology at JNU since 1998. Also taught as India Chair in Germany (Albert Ludwig University, Freiburg), GSP Scholar at Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany), [4] and was Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Tufts University from January to May 2013. [5] International Faculty at Innsbruck University (Austria), GSP faculty at FLACSO (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Visiting professor at NEHU (Shillong) and Kashmir University (Srinagar).

Political career

Kumar was a National Executive Committee member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). [6] He contested on AAP ticket the Indian Lok Sabha elections of 2014 from the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency and came 2nd. Later on he was expelled from AAP for "Anti-Party activities" than finally along with Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Ajit Jha formed a new political organization called Swaraj Abhiyan and currently is a National convenor of Swaraj Abhiyan. All India Students' Association (AISA) is a left wing student organisation in India. It describes itself as "the voice of the radical students' movement" and is affiliated to the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation. The association was previously affiliated to the IPF. The association was founded in Allahabad on 9 August 1990 with the merger of several left wing students organisations across India. AISA have organisational presence in the states and union territories of Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura, etc. Nilasis Bose is the National President of AISA and Prasenjeet Kumar is its National General Secretary.

He is a former member of University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Advisory Council on Right to Education Act (NAC-RTE) constituted by Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Govt of India, in 2010. He was a member of the National Executive of the Aam Aadmi Party until 2015.

Saurabh Bharadwaj is an Indian politician from the Aam Aadmi Party, representing Greater Kailash constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. He was the Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and Minister of Health, Urban development and water since 9 March 2023. He was stripped of his positions on 8 August 2023 and his ministries were given to PWD chief Atishi. He is also the National Chief Spokesperson Of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Devinder Kumar Sehrawat is an Indian politician and former member of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi of India. He has represented the Bijwasan constituency of New Delhi being a member of The AAM AADMI PARTY. He was one of the prominent persons who marched on 31 Jan 2011, the first rally and start of India Against Corruption Movement in Delhi. He was one of the founder member of the AAP. He worked as social and environmental activist. He organised several Maha Panchayats of farmers and was instrumental in inclusion of several pro farmer provisions in the right to fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Aquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement act 2013. To secure the environment he took up Vide PIL on SDMC for waste collection and cleaning of Airport Area. He proposed and worked to get the Delhi Airport area infrastructure development plan and contributed towards decongestion, greening and infrastructure upgradation by his efforts. He has been an activist in preservation of the ancient heritage of Delhi. He organised a mass moment to prevent encroachment in Airport Area by over 2,500 Burmese immigrants. He tookup the matter of safety of School children of Delhi on death of 2 young children one in Govt School Kapashera and the other in Ryan School in Vasant Kunj. He filed public interest litigation in High Court of Delhi against the negligence of the school authorities and Govt. officials and got a standard operating procedure issued by the court for the safety of approx. 50 Lakh school children of Delhi While holding the position of secretary of Delhi Gramin Samaj helped the farmers. He was a part of the protest against the Haryana government's move to acquire around 3,800 acres at Bawal for industrial development and got highlighted for the social cause on TOI in march 2013. He tabled the Motion in support of OROP in Delhi legislative Assembly on 25 June 2015.

Sarita Singh is an Indian politician, who is the incumbent president of Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti,( CYSS ) the student's wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She was a member of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi and represented Rohtas Nagar of Delhi. Singh is also a social worker.

Parmila Tokas is an Indian politician and is member of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi and Seventh Legislative Assembly of Delhi. She is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party and represents R K Puram of Delhi.

Raghav Chadha is an Indian politician and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He is the youngest Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab constituency. He was the former Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and MLA from the Rajendra Nagar assembly constituency in Delhi till 2022. Chadha has been elected as Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. He is also a practising chartered accountant.

Swaraj Abhiyan is an Indian political party that began on 14 April 2015. It was formed by Yogendra Yadav and anti-corruption activist Prashant Bhushan in Gurgaon following their expulsion from the Aam Aadmi Party. The organisation claims to transform ideology into reality and to achieve Swaraj in all aspects of life - political, economical, social and cultural. On 31 July 2016, Swaraj Abhiyan announced the decision to form a political front, Swaraj India. Subsequently, on 2 October 2016, a political party - Swaraj India was announced, with intention to participate in local body elections to start with.

Aam Aadmi Sena is a political wing of Aam Aadmi Sangathan and dissident faction of former workers of Aam Aadmi Party, an Indian political party commonly referred as AAP.

On 31 July 2016, Swaraj Abhiyan which formed as a political platform on 14 April 2015, announced the decision to form a political front, Swaraj India.
