Andrew Armstrong is a British stuntman, second unit director, film director, and actor.
Armstorng was born in 1953 in Buckinghamshire, England to a family of stunt performers before starting his career in 1972. [1]
Between 1999 and 2006, he served as second unit director on Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed , I, Robot , Eragon , Galaxy Quest , Chaos , and Planet of the Apes . He has also worked in the stunt department on films such as Hoffa , Air America , Charlie's Angels , and Stargate . [2]
In 2010, Armstrong served as stunt coordinator of the 2011 film Thor and then the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man , which his brother served as second unit director. [3]
In May 2016, Armstrong received the Taurus World Stunt Award's Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the industry. [4]
Armstrong is also an outspoken supporter of the United Stuntwomen's Association and for decades has fought against pre-conceptions for women in Stunts. [5]

A stunt is an unusual, difficult, dramatic physical feat that may require a special skill, performed for artistic purposes usually for a public audience, as on television or in theaters or cinema. Stunts are a feature of many action films. Before computer-generated imagery special effects, these depictions were limited to the use of models, false perspective and other in-camera effects, unless the creator could find someone willing to carry them out, even such dangerous acts as jumping from car to car in motion or hanging from the edge of a skyscraper: the stunt performer or stunt double.
The Bourne Supremacy is a 2004 action-thriller film featuring Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne character. Although it takes the name of the second Bourne novel (1986), its plot is entirely different. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, he won an Academy Award for Technical Achievement in 2002 for his invention of the “Mic Rig,” a stunt vehicle. He has also won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his work on Hacksaw Ridge and two Taurus World Stunt awards.
