Anjuman Ara Shilpi is a retired Bangladeshi film and television actress. Her first film, Banglar Commando, was released on 5 May 1995. She performed in 36 films between 1995 and 2000. She then retired from her acting career. [1]

Career

Shilpi grew up in Dhaka but her father is originally from India and mother from Narayanganj. [2] Her maternal uncle helped her get on stage in Narayanganj. [1]

Shilpi's first film acting role was in Nag Nortoki. [1] But her first film, Bangla Commando, was released on 5 May 1995. [3] She became notable after her performance with Salman Shah at the film Priyojon  [ bn ]. [4] She withdrew from making films in 2000. [5]  The last films of hers to be released were Razzak's Premer Naam Bedona and Dewan Nazrul's Sujon Bondhu. [6]

Shilpi had made her television debut in the drama Amrai, directed by Abdullah Al Mamun. [6] She continued working in dramas irregularly until 2013. [7]

Personal life

Shilpi married businessman Alamgir Iqbal in 2011. She moved to the United States when their son, Sanat Iqbal, was born in 2012. Two years later they had a daughter, Angelina Iqbal. [8]

Abhishek Chatterjee was an Indian actor who was known for his work in Bengali cinema. He made his big screen debut alongside veterans such as Sandhya Roy, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Tapas Paul, and Utpal Dutt with the Bengali film Pathbhola (1986) directed by Tarun Majumdar. His notable works include Lathi by Prabhat Roy,Bakul Priya By Swapan Saha, Pabitra Papi, Sajoni Aamar Sohag and Chaowa Pawa.

Shammi Akhter was a Bangladeshi playback singer. She was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film Bhalobaslei Ghor Bandha Jay Na (2010).

Sujon Sokhi is a 1975 Bangladeshi film directed by Khan Ataur Rahman. The film received critical acclaim, particularly for the performance given by Kabori Sarwar, who won Bachsas Award for Best Actress. Both Sabina Yasmin and Abdul Alim earned Bangladesh National Film Awards for the song "Sob Sokhire Par Korite". The film was popularly remade in Bangladesh in color by director Shah Alam Kiran starring renowned duo Salman Shah and Shabnur in 1994 with the same title. It was also remade in West Bengal (India) in 1995, which was directed by Swapan Saha.
