Tania Ahmed (born 5 June 1972) [1] [2] is a Bangladeshi actress, model, choreographer and director. [3] She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Krishnopokkho (2016). [4]
Ahmed started her career as a model in 1991. [5] She debuted her acting career in the TV play Samporko, directed by Faria Hossain. [5] Later on, she played in other notable TV dramas - 69, Belabhumi, Srikanto, Amader Anandabari, Ghunpoka and Shukhnagar Apartment. [5] Ahmed has also directed music videos since 1999. [5]
She directed music video of "Muhurto", "Moyuree", "Aar Koto Kandabe", and "Uro Megh". [1] In 2004, she acted in Humayun Ahmed's film Shyamol Chhaya and earned Bachsas Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie.
She has acted in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's Made in Bangladesh and in a short film Biswaronner Nodi. [6]
She became the judge of Veet Channel i Top Model in 2011. [7] She directed a serial named A Team [8] [9] in 2012 in England and telecasted on Channel-i in 2013. [10] In 2014, Ahmed debuted in directorial role in the movie Valobasha Emoni Hoy (Good Morning London) [3] released in January 2017.
She was married to musician S I Tutul since 1999. [6] The couple officially divorced on 2021. Together they have three sons - Tawab, Sreyash and Arosh. [3]

Bachsas Film Award
Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, songwriter, scholar, and academic. His breakthrough was his debut novel Nondito Noroke published in 1972. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books. He was one of the most popular authors and filmmakers in post-independence Bangladesh. Pakistani English newspaper Dawn referred to him as the cultural legend of Bangladesh.
The Cinema of Bangladesh is a diverse and vibrant entity, consisting of films produced across various regions, each contributing its unique linguistic and cultural perspective. Beyond the dominant Dhaka based Bengali-language film industry Dhallywood, which is a portmanteau of "Dhaka" and "Hollywood", Bangladesh is home to cinema in several other languages and dialects. For instance, Chakma cinema from Bandarban, Garo cinema from Sherpur, Meitei and Sylheti cinema from Sylhet, Chatgaiya cinema from Chattogram. These regional cinemas play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the linguistic and cultural heritage of the country. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled Sukumari was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, The Last Kiss, was released in 1931.
Shyamol Chhaya is a 2004 Bangladeshi Bengali-language film. It was written and directed by Humayun Ahmed. Stars Humayun Faridi, Challenger, Riaz, Monir Khan Shimul, Ahmed Rubel, Tania Ahmed, Meher Afroz Shaon, Dr.Ezazul Islam, Faruque Ahmed, Shadhin Khosru, Shamima Nazneen, Hosne Ara Putul, Rahmat Ali and many more. It reflects a story of the Bangladesh War of Independence, 1971.
Rosy Afsary was an actress in the Bangladeshi film industry. She was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in its first ceremony in 1975 for her role in the film Lathial.
Ahmed Reza Rubel was a Bangladeshi theatre, film and television actor. He started his career in Selim Al Deen's theatre group "Dhaka Theatre". Later he concentrated on mainstream commercial cinema, starring in six feature films. Rubel then left the film industry to work in tele-dramas.
Tauquir Ahmed is a Bangladeshi architect and actor, turned director in both television and cinema. His films won many international and national awards including Bangladesh National Film Awards in the Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Story categories for the films Joyjatra (2004) and Oggatonama (2016).
Kazi Sharmin Nahid Nupur, known by her stage name Shabnur, is a Bangladeshi film actress. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Dui Noyoner Alo (2005).
Arifa Pervin Zaman, known by her stage name Moushumi, is a Bangladeshi film actress and director. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress three times for her roles in Meghla Akash (2001), Devdas (2013) and Taarkata (2014). She has acted in over 150 films and made her directorial debut with Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti (2003).

Mahfuz Ahmed is a Bangladeshi television and film actor. He is also a television presenter, model and television producer. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor twice for his roles in Laal Sobuj (2005) and Zero Degree (2015).
Shahid Hasan, known by professionally as Misha Sawdagor, is a Bangladeshi film actor known for playing villains. As of 2020, according to him, he has performed in more than 700 films. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards 3 times for his roles in the films Boss Number One (2011), Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo (2014) and Bir (2020). He first got noticed as a villain in the 1995 film Asha Bhalobasha starring Salman Shah. After Shah's death, he continued playing the villain opposite other actors, but failed to achieve any mainstream success or recognition. From 2006 onwards he started playing the main antagonist in a long string of hit movies starring Shakib Khan in the lead role and mostly Apu Biswas as the lead actress, and established himself as a leading antagonist in the Cinema of Bangladesh.
Nusrat Imrose Tisha, known mononymously as Tisha, is a Bangladeshi actress, model and producer who has appeared mainly in Bengali television and films. She has garnered popularity with her performances both on television and the silver screen.
Tamalika Karmakar is a Bangladeshi actress and model. Her notable film roles were in Ei Ghar Ei Songshar (1996), Kittonkhola (2000) and Ghetuputra Komola (2012). Tamalika won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Kittonkhola. In July 2017, she performed, with Aranyak Nattaydal theatre troupe, in Rarang, on their 180th rendition.
Naznin Hasan Chumki is a Bangladeshi television and film actress. She is also a scriptwriter, director and anchor. In 2006, she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for the film Ghani (2006). She is a joint general secretary of the Actors Equity.
Ek Cup Cha (Bengali: এক কাপ চা) is a 2014 Bangladeshi romantic film directed by Noyeem Imtiaz Neyamul. It stars Ferdous Ahmed and Moushumi in the central roles, alongside Omar Sani, Rituparna Sengupta, father and daughter duo Alamgir and Akhi Alamgir, and Humayun Faridi. It is Faridi's final film, he died before it was released.
Meher Afroz Shaon is a Bangladeshi actress, director, Dancer and playback singer. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the film Krishnopokkho (2016). She was the wife of writer and director Humayun Ahmed.
Ziaul Faruq Apurba is a Bangladeshi model and actor. He usually works in television, but has also appeared in films. He is also a singer.
