Nasrin Akter Nipun, known by her stage name as Nipun [2] is a Bangladeshi film actress. She was the former general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association, the organisation of local film artists. She won the National Film Awards twice - Best Actress for Shajghor (2007) and Best Supporting Actress for Chander Moto Bou (2009). [3] As of 2014, she has acted in a total of 35 films, including Pitar Ason, Rickshawalar Prem, Praner Shami, and Porichoi . [2]

Background

Akter earned her bachelor's in computer science from Moscow State University [4] and she then moved to Los Angeles. [4] She learned Kathak dance in Moscow. [2]

Career

Akter debuted in her acting career in 2006. [3]

Akter acted in the films of West Bengal, including Porichoi (2013) with Prosenjit Chatterjee. [2]

In 2017, Akter was elected as an active member of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation. [5]

Akter has been declared as the newly elected general secretary of the BFAA on Saturday February 5, 2022, while her competitor Zayed Khan disqualified by its appellate board. [6] Sheikh Selim lobbied to get her elected Bangladesh Film Artistes Association. [7] But on 2 March 2022, High Court declared Zayed Khan as rightfully elected general secretary of BFFA. [8] On 21 November 2022, The Appellate Division suspended the High Court verdict. As a result of this order, Akter remained as the general secretary of BFAA. [9]

Personal life

Until 2006, Akter lived in Los Angeles with her husband, Muhammad Sajjad Hosen Opu and a daughter, Tanisha. [2] [10] Later Nipun and her husband got separated and ultimately divorced. In August 2024, her ex husband told to private Television channel RTV that Nipun was a mistress of Bangladesh Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim.

Shahid Hasan, known by professionally as Misha Sawdagor, is a Bangladeshi film actor known for playing villains. As of 2020, according to him, he has performed in more than 700 films. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards 3 times for his roles in the films Boss Number One (2011), Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo (2014) and Bir (2020). He first got noticed as a villain in the 1995 film Asha Bhalobasha starring Salman Shah. After Shah's death, he continued playing the villain opposite other actors, but failed to achieve any mainstream success or recognition. From 2006 onwards he started playing the main antagonist in a long string of hit movies starring Shakib Khan in the lead role and mostly Apu Biswas as the lead actress, and established himself as a leading antagonist in the Cinema of Bangladesh.

<i>Oggatonama</i> 2016 film

Oggatonama is a 2016 Bangladeshi drama film directed and written by Tauquir Ahmed. It was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film stars Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Mosharraf Karim, Nipun Akter, Shatabdi Wadud, and several others. Oggatonama was released on 19 August 2016 in Bangladesh by Impress Telefilm. It is about a Bangladeshi migrant who dies after illegally entering the United Arab Emirates with a fake passport. The Bangladesh police receive the wrong corpse.

Md. Zahirul Haque, best known by his stage name as Zayed Khan, is a Bangladeshi film actor who has appeared in more than 25 films to date. He began his career in 2006 with the film Bhalobasha Bhalobasha. Since then he has appeared in the films Nagar Mastan opposite Pori Moni and Dabangg. He was cast in Antor Jala (2017) due to director Malek Afsary's preference for him as an actor. '71 Er Ma Jononi is a 2014 Bangladeshi drama film directed by Shah Alam Kiron, and starring Nipun Akter. The film is centered on the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence and based on a book written by Anisul Haque, Jononi Shahoshini 71. Government funded this film was produced by Impress telefilm. Nipun Roy Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician. She serves as the general secretary of the Dhaka District unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and is a member of the BNP executive committee. She is the daughter of Nitai Roy Chowdhury, a BNP vice chairman and former minister.
