Vatara Thana is a thana of Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh. Its neighbourhoods include Sayeed Nagar, ^[4] Basundhara Residential Area, Vatara, Solmaid, Nurerchala, Khilbarirtek, Kalachandpur, and Kuril.^{[ citation needed ]}

Key roads passing through this thana include Progoti Sarani, ^[5] and Madani Avenue, a 100-foot-wide (30 m) road connecting it to Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj. ^[6]

Part of this thana is encompassed by ward number 40 of Dhaka North City Corporation. ^[7]
