Controversy

Afsana Mimi's name was involved in the murder of school teacher Jayanti Munshi in 2004. Mimi had a relationship with Shampa Reza's brother Azam Reza, who was married. Jayanti Munshi was killed in a marital dispute over her husband's free association with Afsana Mimi. In that case, Lucille Sadekin, Jayanti's mother, directly blamed Shampa Reza and Afsana Mimi for this incident. Azam Reza was sentenced to death, but later the law The death penalty was commuted by the President. Mimi was acquitted of the charge sheet.
