Gazi Rakayet is a Bangladeshi actor, director and writer. He is the recipient of various accolades, including 10 Bangladesh National Film Awards (with two for Best Director) for the films Mrittika Maya (2013), Anil Bagchir Ekdin (2015) and Gor (The Grave) (2020). [1] [2] [3] [4]

Education

Rakayet passed his SSC exam from Gandaria High School in 1983 and HSC exam with an outstanding result from Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1985. Then he earned his BSc degree in civil engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1993. [5]

Career

In 1980, when Rakayet was in grade seven, he performed in a stage-play named Halchal. [6] In 1988, he joined a team of stage actors at the Group Theatre Federation. [6] Later he performed at Bailey Road for the first time in Kiron Mritya's Amrit Bish, directed by Syed Mohidul Islam. [6] His first web series is Unoloukik . He acted as Ishtiaque Mirza, a writer in Chorki's web film Munshigiri .

Personal life

Rakayet was married to actress Afsana Mimi until 1996. [7]

Shahid Hasan, known by professionally as Misha Sawdagor, is a Bangladeshi film actor known for playing villains. As of 2020, according to him, he has performed in more than 700 films. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards 3 times for his roles in the films Boss Number One (2011), Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo (2014) and Bir (2020). He first got noticed as a villain in the 1995 film Asha Bhalobasha starring Salman Shah. Mrittika Maya is a Bangladeshi film about the heartbreaking life of an old potter. The film's script, screenplay and direction was done by Gazi Rakayet and produced by Faridur Reza Sagar and Gazi Rakaet himself. The star casts of this film includes Lutfur Rahman George, Mamunur Rashid, Pijush Bandhopadhyay, Akhteruzzaman, Wahida Mollick Jolly, Mrinal Dutta and many more. The film was released for the mass audience on September 6.

Uttam Guho is a Bangladeshi art director of films and stage plays. <i>The Grave</i> (2020 film) 2020 film

The Grave is a Bangladeshi English language drama film written and directed by Gazi Rakayet. It is a Bangladesh Government and Impress Telefilm funded joint venture film, based on a journey of an undertaker. It features Gazi Rakayet himself in the title role, Dilara Zaman, Deepanwita Martin, Moushumi Hamid, Sushoma Sarkar, and Shamima Tusty among others. SM Mohsin and Mamunur Rashid also make guest appearances in the film. The film was simultaneously shot in Bengali, titled Gor respectively. The film is coined as Bangladesh's first bilingual film project. The Grave is initially released in Bangladesh on 25 December 2020, and later on Hollywood as the first Bangladeshi-produced film. The film was also submitted to compete in the general category of the 94th Academy Awards; as it is the first Bangladeshi film to be competing in this category. The film was added to the 2022 Oscar Reminder List. The film bagged 11 National film awards of Bangladesh.

<i>Munshigiri</i> 2021 film by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury

Munshigiri is a Bangladeshi mystery drama film directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury from a script by Naseef Amin for Chorki. Based on the novel Mriterao Kotha Bole by Shibabrata Barman, it stars Chanchal Chowdhury as Masood Munshi, Dilara Hanif Purnima as Suraiya Akhter, and Sabnam Faria as Parveen Sultana. It is released via Chorki on 30 September 2021.

Rosalin Dipannita Martin is a Bangladeshi actress. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Gor (2020).
