Bangladeshi cinema, Bangla cinema, or Bengali cinema, better known as Dhallywood, is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The popular term "Dhallywood" is a portmanteau of "Dhaka" and "Hollywood". It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled Sukumari was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, The Last Kiss, was released in 1931.

Chandragrohon: The Lunar Eclipse is a Bangladeshi film based on a short story written by Indian Bengali author Syed Mustafa Siraj. The film was released 2008 and younger director Murad Parvez first time directed the film. The film features Riaz, Sohana Saba, and Champa in lead roles along with Shahiduzzaman Selim, KS Firoz, Dilara Zaman, Kohinur, Gazi Rakayet, Azom Faruk and Kazi Riton in supporting roles. In 2008, the film won three National Film Awards and including other four awards.

Kamal Ahmed is a Bangladeshi film director and actor. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice, for the films Lalu Bhulu (1983) and Goriber Bou (1990).
Abdul Kader was a Bangladeshi actor. He was best known for his Bodi role in the television drama serial Kothao Keu Nei. He was also popular for his appearance in the popular Bangladeshi magazine show Ityadi.
Rehana Jolly is a Bangladeshi film actress. She won the Bangladesh National Film Awards for her role in the film Ma O Chele. She started her acting career with the film Maa O Chhele. Since 1985 she has acted over 400 films.
