The 46th National Film Awards was presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi films released in the calendar year 2021. The list of winners were declared on 6 January 2023 and presented on 9 March. [1] [2]

Jury board and submissions

On 16 August 2022, the ministry formed a 13 member jury board. Jury members included Morshedul Islam, Zahid Hasan, Bhorer Kagoj, Maksud Jamil Mintu, Salma Begum Sujata, and others. [3] [4] 21 feature films, 17 short films and 7 documentary films released in 2021 were submitted for the National Film Awards. [1]

Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor is the highest award for film acting in Bangladesh.

The 36th National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 2011. The Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Composition is the highest award for music composition in Bangladeshi film.

The 40th National Film Awards was presented on 24 July 2017 by the Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi films released in the year 2015. The awards were given to 29 personnel in 26 categories.

The 42nd National Film Awards, was presented on 8 December 2019 by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi films released in the calendar year 2018.

<i>Operation Sundarbans</i> Bangladeshi film directed by Dipankar Dipon

Operation Sundarbans or Operation Sundarban is a Bangladeshi wildlife action thriller movie. The film is co-written and directed by Dipankar Sengupta Dipon. The film is produced by RAB Welfare Cooperative Society Ltd. Nazim-ud-Doula and Dipon have written the screenplay. The plot is loosely based on real operations of RAB during surrender of robbers of Sundarbans as well as the struggle of Sundarbans' natives. It stars Riaz, Ziaul Roshan, Siam Ahmed, Taskeen Rahman, Shatabdi Wadud, Nusraat Faria and Darshana Banik, while Manoj Pramanik, debutant Samina Bashar, Dipu Imam, Ehsanur Rahman also joins the cast. The film begun its shooting on 20 December 2019 at Satkhira. This film got 3 national film awards in 2022 in Comedy, Male Singer category and Khokon Mollah in the Best Make-up Man category.

<i>The Grave</i> (2020 film) 2020 film

The Grave is a Bangladeshi English language drama film written and directed by Gazi Rakayet. It is a Bangladesh Government and Impress Telefilm funded joint venture film, based on a journey of an undertaker. It features Gazi Rakayet himself in the title role, Dilara Zaman, Deepanwita Martin, Moushumi Hamid, Sushoma Sarkar, and Shamima Tusty among others. SM Mohsin and Mamunur Rashid also make guest appearances in the film. The film was simultaneously shot in Bengali, titled Gor respectively. The film is coined as Bangladesh's first bilingual film project. The Grave is initially released in Bangladesh on 25 December 2020, and later on Hollywood as the first Bangladeshi-produced film. The film was also submitted to compete in the general category of the 94th Academy Awards; as it is the first Bangladeshi film to be competing in this category. The film was added to the 2022 Oscar Reminder List. The film bagged 11 National film awards of Bangladesh.

The 45th National Film Awards will be presented on 23 March 2022 by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi films released in the calendar year 2020. The list of winners were declared on 16 February 2022.

The 47th National Film Awards will be presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi films released in the calendar year 2022. The list of winners were declared on 31 October 2023. and presented on 14 November 2023.
