Channel i Music Awards

Taneem Rahman Angshu (born 14 July 1981) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker who largely works in Bengali films and TV productions. His first feature film Shopner Ghor (2018), [1] was a horror film which had critical success. He won the Best Director (Bangladesh) for Shopner Ghor at 18th Telecine Award in Kolkata, India. [2] His second film No Dorai (2019), was a major commercial success and won six national awards at Bangladesh's 33rd National Film Award (2019) including the Best Director and Best Film Category. [3] No Dorai’ also won FIPRESCI at 18th Dhaka International Film Festival. [4] Angshu also won Best Music Video Award in Channel-I Music Awards for two consecutive years, 2016 and 2017. [5] [6]

Career

Angshu made his directorial debut with a short film titled Bhejaal (2007) that had an official screening at Dhaka International Film festival. Later he made various television commercials and documentaries for NGOs and agencies in Bangladesh.

In 2012, Angshu released his first feature-length film, a zombie apocalypse horror film titled Spook for Channel 24. The cast of the film included Bidya Sinha Mim, Anisur Rahman Milon and Azad Abul Kalam. His other films include Ami Trina o Magic (2012), Aalo (2014), Hothat Tomar Jonno (2014), Life and Fiona (2014), and Ongsher Shesh Ektai (2014).

Angshu has also directed a number of music videos in Bangladesh.

His film Air Bender (2015) was the first television film in Bangladesh to be shot inside a real commercial aircraft.[ citation needed ] Followed by over 30 successful TV Dramas and Telefilms, he came up with his first mega TV series: The Daily Fright Night (2015), consisting of over 200 episodes for Gazi TV. [7] Alongside numerous TV shows, Angshu directed a number of successful music videos like Aahare (2014) by Minar Rahman, Hariye Fela Bhalobasha (2015) by Habib Wahid, Jhoom (2016) by Minar Rahman, Local Bus (2016) by Pritom Hassan, Beiaainshaab (2016) by Pritom Hassan, Moner Thikana (2016) by Habib Wahid, Jadukor (2017) by Pritom Hassan, Ta Jani Na (2017) by Minar Rahman, Ghum (2017) by Habib Wahid, Cholo Na (2018) by Habib Wahid, Amar E Mon (2018) by Imran Mahmudul, Girlfriend Er Biya (2018) by Pritom Hasan and Protic Hasan are amongst many other hits. Angshu consecutively received two Channel-I Music Awards for best music video for Hariye Fela Bhalobasha and Jhoom respectively for the year 2016 and 2017.

Angshu's first directorial released feature film Shopner Ghor (2018) starring Zakia Bari Mamo and Anisur Rahman Milon is a classic horror film which brought him an award at the 18th Telecine Award in Kolkata, India. His most recent feature film No Dorai (2019), produced by Star Cineplex and starring Sunerah Binte Kamal and Sariful Razz. The story inspired by a champion female surfer from Cox's Bazar. The film won 6 National Awards in 2020, including Best Film and Best Director. Angshu has also received FIPRESCI award at 18th Dhaka International Film Festival. Angshu is the second Bangladeshi director to win this award after renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud. No Dorai is selected for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2020 (APSA) Brisbane, Australia. [8] Aadi (2015) his first shot feature film is yet to be released.

Rajneeti (transl.Politics) is a 2017 Bangladeshi political thriller film. The film was directed by Bulbul Biswas and produced by Ashfaq Ahmed under the banner of Arrow Motion Arts. The film's story and screenplay were written by Bulbul Biswas and dialogue by Delowar Hossain Dil. It features Shakib Khan, Apu Biswas, Anisur Rahman Milon, Sadek Bachchu, Amit Hasan in lead roles. The film soundtrack is composed by Habib Wahid, Fuad al Muqtadir and Pritam Hasan. It was released on June 26, 2017, on the occasion on Eid al-Fitr in Bangladesh.

Kazi Md. Ali Jahangir, mononymously known as Balam, is a Bangladeshi singer, guitarist, composer, and music producer. He was born in Dhamaron village in Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj (Bikrampur) district. He used to be the lead guitarist/vocalist for the band Warfaze. Later he introduced himself as a solo singer.

Masum Babul was a Bangladeshi film dance director and choreographer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Choreography twice, for the film Dola (1993) and Ki Jadu Karila (2008). He is also best known for the films Beder Meye Josna (1989), Koti Takar Kabin (2006), and Bikkhov (1994). Babul died on 6 March 2023, at age 60.

Imdadul Haque Khokon is a Bangladeshi dance director and choreographer. In 2010, he won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Choreography for the film Mughal-e-Azam.

<i>No Dorai</i> 2019 Bangladeshi film

No Dorai is a 2019 Bangladeshi drama film directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu. Set in Cox's Bazar, the story of No Dorai is based on the life of a young Bangladeshi girl, who defies society's norms to follow her dream of becoming a surfer. It is the first Bangladeshi surfing film. No Dorai literally means "not afraid" in Chittagonian dialect. It features Sunerah Binte Kamal and Sariful Razz in lead roles.

Sohanur Rahman Sohan was a Bangladeshi film director and screenwriter, who was best known as the first director of Bangladeshi superstars Shakib Khan. He started his film career as an assistant of director Shibli Sadik. His first film was Biswas Abiswas (1988). He was best known in Dhallywood for directing romantic films. He launched Salman Shah and Moushumi with the film Keyamat Theke Keyamat in 1993 and his Ananta Bhalobasha in 1999 marked a turning point in Bangladeshi cinema by introducing Shakib Khan, who is now one of the biggest superstars in the industry. Other notable films directed by him are Amar Jaan Amar Pran (2008), Poran Jai Jolia Re (2010), Se Amar Mon Kereche (2012) etc. He served as the principal of the Universal Performing Arts Institute.

<i>Golui</i> 2022 Bangladeshi film

Golui is a 2022 Bangladeshi periodical romantic film directed by SA Haque Alik and co-produced by Khorshed Alam Khosru. It has been made on the basis of the traditional boat race of rural Bengal and the life of the people of a vast village. The film stars Shakib Khan, Puja Cherry, Azizul Hakim and Suchorita in the lead roles. The cast also includes Fazlur Rahman Babu, Suchorita, Ali Raj, Jhuna Chowdhury, Somu Chowdhury in supporting roles.

Pritom Hasan is a Bangladeshi actor, model, music director, and singer. He is known for producing, singing, and directing songs, as well as starring in music videos. He also has featured in films and shows. He has worked in the soundtrack department for several films, such as Debi, Mission Extreme, and Operation Sundarbans.
