Meril Prothom Alo Awards or Prothom Alo Awards is an annual Bangladeshi awards ceremony honouring cinematic achievements in Bangladeshi Film Industry. The awards are divided into two components, Viewers' Choice and Critics' Choice. The awards were first presented in 1998 and since then the awards are given every year at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
Arifa Pervin Zaman, known by her stage name Moushumi, is a leading Bangladeshi film actress and director. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress three times for her roles in Meghla Akash (2001), Devdas (2013) and Taarkata (2014). She has acted in over 150 films and made her directorial debut with Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti (2003).
Nusrat Imrose Tisha, known mononymously as Tisha, is a Bangladeshi actress, model and producer who has appeared mainly in Bengali television and films. She has garnered landmark popularity with her praised performances both on television and the silver screen.

The 3rd Bangladesh National Film Awards were given by the Government of Bangladesh for releases in 1977. It was the third ceremony of National Film Awards. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry. This year awards were given by Ziaur Rahman, the President of Bangladesh, at the Vice President's House in Dhaka on January 9, 1979.

The evening started off with Anisul Haque taking the podium, greeting those present. He was followed by the editor of Prothom Alo Matiur Rahman.
The 11th Meril Prothom Alo Awards were distributed among TV and film starts and singers 10 April 2009 to honour and inspire the young talents for playing their role in the fields of music, film-making and TV production. The Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre turned into a union of cultural personalities on that evening as the Prothom Alo and Square Toiletries staged the programme to honour the stars. The nominations for the popular awards were open to public voting.

The ceremony took place at Osmany Memorial Hall, Dhaka and awards were distributed by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
