Maria Aaltje ("Marianne") Timmer is a Dutch former speed skater specializing in the middle distances. At the 1998 Winter Olympics Timmer won a gold medal in both these events.
Atje Keulen-Deelstra was a Dutch speed skater, who was a four-time World Allround Champion between the age of 32 and 36.

ASWH, short for Altijd Sterker Worden Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, is an association football club from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Netherlands. The club was founded in 1929. It won section championships in 1949, 1959, 1961, 1970, 1883, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2024. In 2005 ASWH also won the Dutch Championship of Amateur Soccer and the Dutch Championship of Saturday Soccer. Ascending gradually through the ranks, ASWH played 2019–2022 in the semi-professional Tweede Divisie. In 2023, it joined the Vierde Divisie, after relegating twice for the first time in the club's history. In 2023–2024, ASWH operates 70 teams in competitions.

The history of Dutch whaling begins with 17th-century exploration of Arctic fishing grounds; and the profitability of whaling in the 18th century drove further growth. Increased competition and political upheavals in Europe affected the stability of this maritime industry in the 19th century; and a combination of these factors cut short any further growth of Dutch whaling in the Antarctic.
Jorien Voorhuis is a Dutch speedskater. Until season 2009/2012 she skated with the VPZ-team. Before season 2010/2011 Voorhuis changed to TVM. Her favorite distances are 1500 and 3000 meters.
Annita van Doorn is a Dutch Short track speed skater. She made her international debut in 2003 at the World Championships for teams. Van Doorn was the first Dutch short track speed skater with a victory on a World Cup distance. She took a lap on her competitors on the 3000 meters and won the super final, surprisingly, at her second World Cup competition. In 2008, she became European Champion in the 500 meters in Ventspils, Latvia. In the overall classification she ended as 5th. She won bronze medals at the European Championships with the relay team in 2007, 2009 en 2010. In 2009 Van Doorn won her first Dutch title.
Irene Schouten is a Dutch speed skater who competed in allround marathon and inline-skating events. She is a five-time Olympic medalist and a triple Olympic Champion, having won the 3,000m, 5,000m, and mass start events at the 2022 Beijing Games. As of 12 February 2022, she holds the Olympic record in both distances. Her coach is Jillert Anema. Schouten has announced that she is retiring as a competing speed skater.
Kortebaanschaatsen refers to an old form of Dutch ice skating tournament that goes back to the 18th century. It is not to be confused with the modern speed skating sport known as short-track speed skating. The sport is similar to harness racing and is similarly set up in two straight lanes of 160 meters.
Gillian Maclaine (1798–1840) was an early 19th century Scottish businessman and adventurer who founded the company of Maclaine Watson.
Gerard Weber is a Dutch former professional footballer for Excelsior Rotterdam. Nicknamed Webertje, Weber was known for his speed. He played both as a midfielder and as a forward. Weber won several championships with Excelsior. He went on to manage football teams in the Rotterdam region, living in Zwijdrecht.
Annie van der Steeg-Van der Meer was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater, with her best results in the 1950s. During her career she won a total of 75 prizes. She became twice Frisian champion and won the silver medal at the national championships.
Tietje Spannenburg-Pagels was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater. Spannenburg-Pagels was born in Hallum. She later lived in Wommels.
Houkje Gerrits Bouma, with surnames van der Veen, van der Schans and Vriezema from her marriages, was a Dutch female kortebaan speed skater who later lived in Veenwouden. She competed at the first known women's speed skating race in 1805 at the age of 16 and won the women's speed skating competition in 1809.
Durkje Huitema was a Dutch female kortebaan speed skater.
Sylke Luding is a former East German long track speed skater, who was active between 1982 and 1991. She was a member of SC Einheit Dresden and the East Germany national sprint team and represented her nation at international competitions.

The Belangenvereniging van Kleine Mensen (BVKM)(English: Interest Association of Little People) is the Dutch Patients' Organization for little people and patients with skeletal dysplasia. The association focuses on individuals with one or more of the two hundred medical conditions falling under the category of dwarfism. Most members have a demonstrable growth disorder and are shorter than 155 cm. Volunteers are responsible for the organization.
Galeries Modernes was a department store chain in the Netherlands in the 20th century, with roots in the earlier company Grand Bazar Français. The last branches were closed in 1984.
