Anthony Boyle (born 8 June 1994) is an actor from Northern Ireland. [1] A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Boyle began his acting career on London stage and rose to prominence for originating the role of Scorpius Malfoy in the West End and Broadway productions of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (2016), for which he won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He has also appeared in the films Tolkien (2019) and Tetris (2023) as well as the miniseries The Plot Against America (2020) and Masters of the Air (2024).

Early life and education

Boyle was born in west Belfast, and attended De La Salle College until he was expelled at age 16, to get hired and fired a week later from a night club for underage drinking. [2] He then went to St Louise's Comprehensive College, [3] and in 2013, began training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff before graduating in 2016 with a BA (Hons) in acting. [4] [5] He started his acting career in a production of 'Romeo and Juliet'–a production he describes as "the worst productions you've ever seen." [6]

Personal life

One of his good friends is fellow Irish actress Lola Petticrew.

<i>Harry Potter and the Cursed Child</i> 2016 play by Jack Thorne

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play written by Jack Thorne from an original story written by J. K. Rowling, Thorne and John Tiffany. The story is set nineteen years after the events of the 2007 novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by Rowling. It follows Albus Severus Potter, son of Harry Potter, who is now Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic. When Albus arrives at Hogwarts, he gets sorted into Slytherin, and fails to live up to his father's legacy, making him resentful of his father. Rowling has referred to the play as "the eighth Harry Potter story".
