Anthony Correia (born 2 May 1982) is a Dutch professional football manager and former player who is currently the head coach of Eerste Divisie club Telstar. During his playing career, Correia was right-back as a one club man for SC Telstar. [1]
Between 2001 and 2016, he made more than 350 appearances for Telstar in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. [2] He played his final match as a professional in April 2016 against Helmond Sport. [3]
In 2017, Correia became an assistant coach of Telstar, [4] being successively awarded with a contract extension in February 2022. [5] Alongside, Correa coached ODIN '59 (2019−2020) and VV Katwijk (since 2020). [6] [7] As Katwijk head coach, Correia also won the 2021–22 Tweede Divisie title. [8]
In April 2024, Telstar announced Correia would serve as the club's new head coach on a two-year deal, effective from the 2024–25 season. [9] [10]
Katwijk
Sportclub Telstar is a Dutch professional association football club based in the town of Velsen-Zuid, North Holland. The team competes in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of the Dutch football league system. The club was founded on 17 July 1963, as a merger between the professional departments of rivals VSV and Stormvogels. The new club was named Telstar, after the then recently launched communications satellite.
Tweede Divisie is the highest amateur football league in the Netherlands. It was established in 1956, together with the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie. Between 1956 and 1960 and between 1962 and 1966, the league consisted of two divisions, Tweede Divisie A and Tweede Divisie B. The league was disbanded in 1971. Six clubs were promoted to the Eerste Divisie, while the other eleven teams became amateur clubs.
Marinus Dijkhuizen is a Dutch professional football manager and former player who last managed Excelsior. As a player, he had notable spells as a forward in his native Netherlands with Excelsior, SC Cambuur and TOP Oss. Dijkhuizen retired in 2009 and entered management and since 2014 he has managed Excelsior (twice), Brentford, NAC Breda and SC Cambuur.
ASWH, short for Altijd Sterker Worden Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, is an association football club from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Netherlands. The club was founded in 1929. It won section championships in 1949, 1959, 1961, 1970, 1883, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2024. In 2005 ASWH also won the Dutch Championship of Amateur Soccer and the Dutch Championship of Saturday Soccer.
