Dick Lukkien (born 28 March 1972) is a Dutch football manager and former footballer currently in charge of Eredivisie club FC Groningen.
From 1991 to 1996 he played 90 times and scored once for BV Veendam. [1] He then played for SVBO and Appingedam.
Lukkien was the assistant manager at SC Veendam from 2002 to 2010.
Lukkien became head coach and managed Jong FC Groningen from 2010 to 2013.
In July 2011 he was appointed assistant manager. Groningen won the KNVB Cup in 2015 and finished runner-up in the Johan Cruyff Shield the same year. [2] He extended his contract to 2018.
On 14 March 2016 it was announced that Lukkien would be the manager of FC Emmen for the next two seasons. [3] He won the Bronzen Stier for being the best manager in the third period of the 2017/18 season. Emmen were promoted to the Eredivisie for the first time in 2018 and finished fourteenth the following season. In 2020–21, Emmen relegated back to the Eerste Divisie.
On 15 April 2022, Lukkien and Emmen promoted back to the Eredivisie after just one year absence. [4] However, FC Emmen immediately relegated too, losing to Almere City in the Relegation play-offs. [5]
In March 2023, it was announced that Lukkien would return to FC Groningen, as head coach for the 2023–24 season. [6] Both FC Emmen and FC Groningen got relegated from the Eredivisie after the announcement.

FC Emmen is a Dutch professional football club based in Emmen, Drenthe. They currently play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2022–23 season. Founded in 1925, the club entered the professional Eerste Divisie in 1985. In 2018, Emmen were promoted to the Eredivisie for the first time. Home games are played at De Oude Meerdijk.
Sportclub Veendam was a Dutch professional association football club based in Veendam, province of Groningen. Founded on 4 September 1894 as Look-Out, it became P.J. Veendam in 1909, Veendam in 1910, SC Veendam in 1974, BV Veendam in 1997 and again SC Veendam in 2011. The club was a founder member of the regional first tier Eerste Klasse Noord in 1916 and became champions of the division in 1931–32; it qualified for the national championship play-offs but finished in bottom place. Veendam took part in the inaugural season of the third tier Tweede Divisie in 1956–57; after yo-yoing between the third and second tiers, the team won promotion to the first tier Eredivisie for the first time in 1985–86. The side spent two seasons in the Eredivisie—1986–87 and 1988–89—but were relegated both times. Veendam then competed in the second tier Eerste Divisie until they were dissolved due to financial problems in 2013.

It began in August 2011 with the first matches of the season and ended in June 2012 with the nacompetitie, a promotion-and-relegation tournament also involving the 16th- and 17th-placed teams from the 2011–12 Eredivisie. The competition was won by FC Zwolle on 13 April 2012, after drawing FC Eindhoven 0–0 at home in their 32nd match of the season.
