Anton Paul Devcich (born 28 September 1985) is a New Zealand former international cricketer,who played in limited over internationals. [1] A left-handed batsman who occasionally bowls left-arm orthodox spin,at the domestic level he plays for Northern Districts. [2]
Devcich made his first-class debut against Otago in 2005 for Northern Districts. Batting at 9,he scored 94 not out,including 15 boundaries,in the first innings,but he finished the match wicketless. [3] He played three further first-class matches in the 2004–05 season but in five innings failed to pass 30. [4]
He made List A and Twenty20 debuts the following season but has been unable to secure a first-team place with only sporadic appearances in all formats. [4] In the 2017–18 Super Smash,he was the leading run-scorer,with 343 runs in ten matches. [5]
In April 2018,he was named the Super Smash Player of the Year at the New Zealand Cricket Awards. [6] In June 2018,he was awarded a contract with Northern Districts for the 2018–19 season. [7]
He was the leading run-scorer for the Nangarhar Leopards in the 2018–19 Afghanistan Premier League,with 270 runs in nine matches. [8] He was the leading wicket-taker for Northern Districts in the 2018–19 Ford Trophy,with twelve dismissals in seven matches. [9]
In July 2019,he was selected to play for the Edinburgh Rocks in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. [10] [11] However,the following month the tournament was cancelled. [12] In January 2020,Devcich conceded 6 sixes in an over against Leo Carter of Canterbury, [13] a moment he referred to as one of the worst of his cricketing career. [14]
Devcich represented New Zealand at youth level,making five appearances at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2004. [15]
In September 2013,Devcich was named in the Black Caps limited-overs squad to tour Bangladesh. [16] On 29 October he made ODI debut in the first ODI of the series,and eight days later he hit 59 off just 31 deliveries in his T20 International debut. [17]
Overall,Devcich played 12 ODIs and four T20 Internationals for New Zealand.
Devcich announced his retirement from representative cricket in July 2021. [18]
Luke James Wright is an English former cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium bowler. Wright joined Sussex in 2004,having started his career at Leicestershire. He was named in England's squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2004,and joined the International Twenty20 squad for the 2007 Twenty20 World Championship in September 2007. He made his One Day International debut on 5 September 2007 against India. In November 2022,he became a selector for the England men's team,announcing his retirement from playing at the same time. Wright was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
Martin James Guptill is a former New Zealand cricketer who played as an opening batsman in all formats of the game but pre-dominantly in limited-overs. Guptill is the first cricketer from New Zealand and the fifth overall to have scored a double century in a One Day International match and holds the current record for the highest individual score in Cricket World Cup matches and the second highest score in One Day Internationals of 237 not out. In March 2021,Guptill played in his 100th T20I match. He was also a part of the New Zealand squad to finish as runners-up at the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Benjamin Colin James Cutting is an Australian cricketer who plays as an all-rounder. Cutting represented Australia in one-day internationals and T20 matches,and at the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. Cutting played first-class cricket for the Queensland between 2007 and 2018 before opting to play only white-ball cricket.
Luke Ronchi is a New Zealand-Australian cricket coach and a former cricketer. He represented both the Australia national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team in international cricket. Ronchi is the only player to have played for both Australia and New Zealand in cricketing history. He was also a part of the New Zealand squad to finish as runners-up at the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
