Aperusia is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1905. [1] [2]
A genus is a taxonomic rank used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms, as well as viruses, in biology. In the hierarchy of biological classification, genus comes above species and below family. In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus.
Moths comprise a group of insects related to butterflies, belonging to the order Lepidoptera. Most lepidopterans are moths, and there are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth, many of which have yet to be described. Most species of moth are nocturnal, but there are also crepuscular and diurnal species.
Family is one of the eight major hierarchical taxonomic ranks in Linnaean taxonomy; it is classified between order and genus. A family may be divided into subfamilies, which are intermediate ranks between the ranks of family and genus. The official family names are Latin in origin; however, popular names are often used: for example, walnut trees and hickory trees belong to the family Juglandaceae, but that family is commonly referred to as being the "walnut family".
Orthonama obstipata, the gem, is a moth of the family Geometridae. The species was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1794. It is common in continental Europe and adjacent lands, though in the northeast, its range does not significantly extend beyond the Baltic region and it is absent from northern Russia. This well-flying species is somewhat prone to vagrancy and able to cross considerable distances of open sea; it can thus be regularly found on the British Isles and even on Iceland.
Aeschrostoma is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae. It has a single species, Aeschrostoma marmorata, known from New Guinea. Both the genus and species were described by Warren in 1903.
Anemplocia is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae erected by Warren in 1905.
Ansorgia is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae. Its only species, Ansorgia divergens, is found in Uganda. Both the genus and species were described by Warren in 1899.
Anthalma is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae. Its only species, Anthalma latifasciata, is found in Panama. Both the genus and species were first described by Warren in 1901.
Blepharoctenucha is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1895. Its only species, Blepharoctenucha virescens, first described by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1880, is known from India and Taiwan.
Collesis is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1897.
Duliophyle is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1894. Its only species, Duliophyle agitata, described by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1878, is found in Japan.
Euproutia is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae described by David Stephen Fletcher in 1979.
Grossbeckia is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae. The genus was erected by William Barnes and James Halliday McDunnough in 1912.
Hysterura is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1895.
Panagropsis is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1894. Its only species, Panagropsis equitaria, described by Francis Walker in 1861, is found in South Africa.
Pherotesia is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae. The genus was described by Schaus in 1901.
Plesiomorpha is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae described by Warren in 1898.

Pseudomennis is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae erected by Herbert Druce in 1885.
Ptychotheca is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae. Its only species, Ptychotheca pallidivirens, is found in New Guinea. Both the genus and species were first described by William Warren, the genus in 1906 and the species in 1903.
