Cyprinidae is a family of freshwater fish commonly called the carp or minnow family, including the carps, the true minnows, and their relatives the barbs and barbels, among others. Cyprinidae is the largest and most diverse fish family, and the largest vertebrate animal family overall, with about 3,000 species; only 1,270 of these remain extant, divided into about 200 valid genera. Cyprinids range from about 12 mm (0.5 in) in size to the 3 m (9.8 ft) giant barb. By genus and species count, the family makes up more than two-thirds of the ostariophysian order Cypriniformes. The family name is derived from the Greek word kyprînos.

Aphyocypris moltrechti, Moltrecht's minnow, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Xenocyprididae, the East Asian minnows or sharpbellies. This species is endemic to Taiwan. It was formerly considered to be the only species in the genus Pararasbora. The Endemic Species Research Institute under the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan in Taiwan has enlisted Aphyocypris moltrechti as "precious and rare species" among other endemic freshwater species.
Aphyocypris lini, the garnet minnow or Venus minnow, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Xenocyprididae, the East Asian minnows or sharpbellies. This species is endemic to China. It was first collected from Hong Kong by A.W. Herre in 1936. The introduction of mosquitofish and habitat destruction caused the extirpation of this species from Hong Kong and the species was considered to be extinct in the wild. However, a similar species Aphyocypris pulchrilineata was discovered in Guangxi in southern China, but this species lacks the dark spot on the base of the caudal fin.

Aphyocypris pulchrilineata is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Xenocyprididae, the East Asian minnows or sharpbellies. This speces was originally described from a stream of the Chengjiang River at Chengjiang in Du'an County in Guangxi China. The Chengjiang River is a small northern branch of the Hongshuihe River, a tributary of the Xijiang in the Pearl River system. It has since been found in the Zuojiang and Youjiang rivers, also in Guangxi.
Shuanglianpi Wetland is a partially protected natural area located in Yilan County, northern Taiwan. Situated at an elevation of 470 meters above sea level, it features a botanically rich, shallow lake. Due to its high plant species density, the Forestry Bureau of Taiwan considers it a wetland of global significance.
