Early life

Gupta was born in Delhi to an engineer father and a homemaker mother. [5] [6] He completed his schooling from a government school and graduated in engineering from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. Engineering, as a field of education, did not interest him, but he pursued it to fulfill his parents' wish. [6]

Career

After graduating, Gupta started performing at Toastmasters International. [7] He has performed in more than 1000 shows in India and abroad since then, including corporate performances for Airtel, Tanishq, Adobe, Amex and Radio Mirchi, IIT Delhi, IIT KharagpurIIT Kanpur and IIT Jodhpur. [5] [6] [8] He has written three solo shows: Appurview; RelationShip Or RelationShit; and Laugh with an Engineer 2.0, which has garnered over 10 million views on social media. His most applauded act is Appurview - Laugh with an Engineer which describes life from the point-of-view of an engineer. [9] [10] [11] Gupta's comedy is based on self-deprecating humour, evident from various ‘baniya’ jokes with none on ‘Sardar’. [12] He started a web series, "Mudde Ki baat", which covered topics such as start ups in India, cricket, Bollywood, and Chetan Bhagat. [13]

In 2023, he starred in the film "Afwaah". In interviews, Gupta said he was glad not to be typecast as a comedian in the film. [14] [15] [16] After the release of "Afwaah", Gupta commented that he is very careful not to spread information that he cannot verify through an official source. [17]

Accolades

Gupta was ranked second in "Top 20 Indian stand-up comedian in 2014" by CNN-IBN, [2] and was included in the Forbes India 100 Celebrity nominees list of 2015 by Forbes India. [18]

Other endeavors

Gupta endeavors to be an entrepreneur. [19] He has invested in Nimo Planet, Ohi, HYPD, Clapingo, Culture X, ElecBits, and The Confidento. [20]

In 2018, he gave a TEDx Talk, the theme of which was "don't follow your passion, let the passion follow you". [21] The video has not yet been translated into English. [22]

During COVID-19, he was one of several prevalent Indian influencers who used social media posts to help arrange remedies for those in India needing medical aid. [23]

Vipul Goyal is an Indian stand-up comedian and actor. He is counted among the top comedy performers in India and also plays the main protagonist in the web-series Humorously Yours. The show is produced by The Viral Fever and depicts a semi-autobiographical account of his life interspersed with standup clips. Vipul is the only Indian comedian with a dedicated show of his own, with more than 70 million views on his online videos across various platforms. The show revolves around his struggles of becoming a comedian and season 2 depicts the life after his success. He is often called the Indian Seinfeld as he does some observational comedy.

He was one of the main personalities behind the YouTube Comedy Hunt and also co-hosted the YouTube FanFest India. In 2017, he released his own one-hour comedy special, Keep It Real on Amazon Prime Video. He made his debut on the big screen with the movie Noor, alongside Sonakshi Sinha. Kota Factory is an Indian Hindi-language streaming television series created by Saurabh Khanna, directed by Raghav Subbu & produced by Arunabh Kumar for The Viral Fever. The story is set in Kota, Rajasthan, an educational hub famous for its coaching centres. The show follows the life of 16-year-old Vaibhav who moves to Kota from Itarsi. It shows the life of students in the city, and Vaibhav's efforts to get into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) by cracking the Joint Entrance Examination. It also stars Jitendra Kumar, Ahsaas Channa, Alam Khan, Ranjan Raj, Revathi Pillai and Urvi Singh in prominent roles.

Cirkus is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language period comedy film directed and produced by Rohit Shetty. The film is jointly produced by Rohit Shetty Productionz and T-Series. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in a dual roles alongside Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johny Lever, Sanjay Mishra.
