Aqua Line of the Pune Metro is the second line of the city's mass transit network. It will run from Ramwadi to Vanaz via Mangalwar Peth and Deccan Gymkhana. The section from Vanaz to Garware College was inaugurated on 6 March 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The section from Garware College to Ruby Hall Clinic was inaugurated on 1 August 2023, while the remaining stretch upto Ramwadi was opened on 6 March 2024. [1]
The elevated line covers a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) and will have 16 stations. It connects with the Purple Line and Line 3 at the Civil Court interchange station. The maintenance depot for the Aqua Line is located near the Vanaz station on the former garbage depot land. [2] [3]

The Aqua Line utilises the Alstom Urbalis 400 communications-based train control (CBTC) signalling system. Alstom was awarded a EUR90 million contract to supply the signalling and telecommunications systems for the Aqua and Purple Lines, as well as Mumbai Metro Line 2 and Line 7. [4] [5]
Pune Metro is a mass rapid transit system serving the city of Pune, India. The system comprises 3 lines with a combined length of 54.14 km (33.64 mi), of which 24.12 km (14.99 mi) on two lines are operational as of August 2023.The extended metro line from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, including the Bund Garden, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi metro stations, covering a distance of 6 km, was inaugrated on 6 March 2024. The 16.59 km (10.31 mi) Purple Line from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate runs on an elevated viaduct between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it goes underground. The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) on an elevated viaduct. The 23.33 km (14.50 mi) elevated Line 3 will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court. All three lines will align at the Civil Court interchange station.
Line 7 (Red Line) of the Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit metro line in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Purple Line of the Pune Metro is the first line of the city's mass transit network. It runs from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate. The 16.59 km (10.31 mi) line will be elevated till Range Hills with 9 stations and will further go underground up to Swargate with 5 stations.
Civil Court is the underground southern terminal metro station on the North-South corridor of the Purple Line and an elevated metro station on the East-West corridor of the Aqua Line of Pune Metro in Pune, India. The station was opened on 1 August 2023 as an extension of Pune Metro Phase I. Currently, the Purple Line is operational between PCMC and Civil Court, whereas, the Aqua Line operates between Vanaz and Ramwadi. This station will also serve as an future interchange for Aqua Line and Line 3 of Pune Metro. It is one of the deepest metro stations in India at the depth of 33m. The roof design of the station allows the sunlight to directly reach the underground platforms.

Though this stretch was inaugurated on March 6, 2024, pending works have forced this station to be exempted for commercial operations for more than a month, unlike the other three stations opened in this stretch inaugurated along with this station.
