Archaeosynthemis orientalis is a species of dragonfly of the family Synthemistidae, ^{[3] [4]} commonly known as the eastern brown tigertail. ^[5] It is a medium-sized dragonfly with reddish-brown and yellow markings. ^[5] It inhabits boggy creeks and swamps in eastern Australia ^{[6] [7]}

Archaeosynthemis orientalis appears similar to Archaeosynthemis occidentalis found in Western Australia. ^[5]
