Arindam Roy (also spelled Arindam Ray) is a politician [2] and actor who works predominantly in Odia cinema apart from a few Bengali films. [3] [4] [1] [5] [6]

Personal life

Arindam Roy born to Gopal Chandra Roy in an aristocratic Karan family. [7] He married to Anupa Das, daughter of Ashok Kumar Das and younger sister of Pranab Prakash Das. [8] In 2024 Odisha Assembly election, he contested Salipur Assembly constituency from Bharatiya Janata Party ticket & lost to Biju Janata Dal candidate in the margin of 7594 votes. [9]

Career

Arindam Roy is an Indian actor who works in the Odia film industry and Bengali film industry. When he went to Bengali Industry he changed his stage name to Rishi before changing it back to his original name. [10] [11] Regarding his performance in the film Target Kolkata , a critic wrote that "Arindam Roy acted well, but if he wants to make a future in Tollywood, he needs to work on his Bengali diction". [12] His Odia film Babu Bhaijaan was the last film before COVID19 pandemic. After pandemic his movie RAM released in silver screens. It was under his home banner Ratna films (4th movie under this banner).

Swayamsiddha is a 2010 Odia film directed by Sudhanshu Sahu with a screenplay and dialogue by Dilip Choudhury, produced by Prabhat Ranjan Mallik, and starring Siddhanta Mahapatra and Yukta Inderlal Mookhey. The film focuses on the implications for the young mass adopting to Maoist insurgency and their sustained alienation from the mainstream as a result. Geo-strategic importance of changing the minds of young people adopting terrorism through love and affection. The film traces the crisis from social trauma to unfair state system encouraging Mao-Naxal insurgency in Odisha.

In 2022, Babushan Mohanty portrayed Doctor Character in DAMaN movie was an Indian Odia-language adventure drama film Released in Odia as well as in the Hindi language.

Balunga Toka is a 2011 Indian Odia-language romantic drama film directed by Sudhakara Basanta. The film stars Anubhav Mohanty and Barsha Priyadarshini as lead role. Raja Jhia Sange Heigala Bhaba is an Oriya drama and romance film released on 10 June 2012. Starring Arindam Roy, Archita Sahu and Mihir Das in key roles. veteran actress Mahasweta Roy being enacted the role of mother of Arindam Roy and Mihir Das played the role of father of Archita Sahu. The film is about strategic love dilemma of a rich girl with a poor boy. Arindam Roy was selected to play the lead role.

Gloria Mohanty was an Indian theatre, television and film actress who worked in the Odia film industry. She was honoured with the State's highest honour for contribution to Odia cinema – the Jayadeb Puraskar in 1994 and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1992. Cultural organisation Srjan awarded her Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award for the year of 2011. and Life Time Achievement Award from Cultural organisation Ghungur in 2012.
