The Paralympics is a major international multi-sport event involving athletes with a range of disabilities, including impaired muscle power, impaired passive range of movement, limb deficiency, leg length difference, short stature, hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis, vision impairment and intellectual impairment. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul, South Korea, are held almost immediately following the respective Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The 1992 Summer Paralympics were the ninth Paralympic Games to be held. They were held in Barcelona, Spain. In addition, the 1992 Paralympic Games for Persons with mental handicap were held immediately after the regular Paralympics in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
Armenia first participated at the Olympic Games as an independent nation in 1994, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games since then.

Along with track and field athletics, it is one of the largest sports at the Paralympics in terms of the number of events, competitors, and spectators.
Pakistan first participated at the Paralympic Games in 1992, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Paralympic Games since 1992. Pakistan has won two medals, a silver and a bronze medal in the Paralympic Games, both medals coming courtesy of Haider Ali in the Men's Long Jump event at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing and the 2016 Rio Summer Paralympics.
The Unified Team at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain, was a joint team consisting of seven of the fifteen former Soviet republics. It competed under the IOC country code EUN.

Mikael Koloyan is an Armenian swimmer. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the men's 100 metre freestyle. Koloyan finished in 56th place overall in the heats. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's 100 metre freestyle. Koloyan finished in 45th place overall in the heats.

Armenia sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia from 7–16 March 2014. This was the nation's fifth appearance at a Winter Paralympic Games. The delegation consisted of a single alpine skier, Mher Avanesyan, who lost both arms as a child after coming into contact with a high-voltage electrical wire. In the men's standing slalom he came in 34th place out of 35 competitors who finished the race, and he failed to finish the giant slalom.

Greta Vardanyan is an Armenian powerlifter and Para-alpine skier. She has competed on four occasions for Armenia at the Paralympic Games, one Winter and three Summer. Vardanyan was the flag bearer on each occasion when she attended a Summer Games.
Armenia sent competitors to the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The country sent one para-alpine skier, Sasun Hakobyan. He qualified for the Winter Games in November 2017, and was named to the team before any of the country's Olympic people.
