Arunachal Pradesh Statehood Day is a state holiday which is observed every year on 20 February to mark the formation of Arunachal Pradesh, India. [1]

History

It was first observed on 20 February 1987 when Arunachal Pradesh was declared as 24th state of India. [2] In 2022, this day was celebrated as 36th State Foundation Day. [3]

Peoples Party of Arunachal is a regional political party in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was founded in September 1977 by Bakin Pertin, Oken Lego and L. Wanglat as president, Vice President and General Secretary of the party. Tomo Riba resigned from PK Thungon government of Congress Party and joined PPA as Vice President of the Party. Currently, Kamen Ringu is the chairman of the party. They were in power in Arunachal until all of their MLAs defected back to Indian National Congress.

Pasighat is the headquarters of East Siang district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology is a science and technology oriented higher education institute in Nirjuli, Itanagar, Papum Pare district, in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Established in 1984, it is a deemed to be university, autonomous, fully funded and controlled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India. The institute is managed by a Board of Management, comprising representatives of Ministry of Education, GOI, the eight beneficiary states of the North Eastern region, AICTE and educationists.

The university was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi University in 2005 when UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was on a visit to the state.

Pema Khandu is an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Dorjee Khandu. Since assuming the office of the Chief Minister in July 2016, he and his government have twice changed their party affiliation; in September from the Indian National Congress to the Peoples Party of Arunachal, and then in December 2016 to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Previously he had served as Minister of Tourism, Urban Development and Water Resources in Nabam Tuki's government.

Donyi Polo Airport, also known as Hollongi Airport, is a domestic airport serving Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is located at Hollongi, situated 14 km (8.7 mi) south from the city centre, in the Papum Pare district. It is built by the Airports Authority of India, over an area of 320 hectares. The airport is the 16th airport of Northeast India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the airport on 9 February 2019. Construction was started on 15 December 2020, and was inaugurated on 19 November 2022, with flight services started by IndiGo to Kolkata and Mumbai from 28 November 2022.

The North-East Democratic Alliance is a political coalition that was formed on May 24, 2016, by Bharatiya Janata Party. The motive of the new political front was to unite non-Congress parties in Northeast India. Himanta Biswa Sarma was appointed as the convenor of the front.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in India was reported on 30 January 2020, originating from China. Slowly, the pandemic spread to various states and union territories including the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The first case was recorded in this region on 2 April 2020.

The Arunachal Pradesh women's cricket team is a women's cricket team that represents the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. They were formed in 2012, and have competed in the Indian women's domestic system since the 2018–19 season, in the Women's Senior One Day Trophy and the Women's Senior T20 Trophy.
