History

On 24 January 1950, the United Provinces was renamed as Uttar Pradesh. In May 2017, the Government of Uttar Pradesh declared to celebrate UP Day on 24 January every year. [4] [5] The celebration of UP Day was proposed by the governor Ram Naik. [6] [3] [7]

Ayodhya district is an administrative district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The city of Ayodhya is its administrative headquarters. The district occupies an area of 2,522 square kilometres (974 sq mi), and had a population of 2,470,996 in the 2011 census. Ayodhya district shares its borders with 6 districts of Uttar Pradesh. It is bordered by Gonda and Basti districts on the northern side, Amethi and Sultanpur districts on the south, and Ambedkar Nagar and Barabanki districts share the border on the east and west.

Yogi Adityanath is an Indian Hindu monk and politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party who is serving as the 21st and current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since 19 March 2017. He is also the longest serving Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, who is currently running his tenure for over 6 years, surpassing Sampurnanand. He represents Gorakhpur Urban Assembly constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly since 2022 and was member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council from 2017 to 2022. He is a former Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency, Uttar Pradesh from 1998 to 2017 before he resigned to become the Chief Minister. He resigned from the legislative council after being elected to the legislative assembly.

Ayodhya Airport, officially known as Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, is an under-construction international airport which will serve the cities of Ayodhya and Faizabad in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The airport is located adjacent to NH-27 and NH-330 at Naaka, Faizabad in Ayodhya district. The Government changed the name of the airport after Lord Shri Ram in 2021. The State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in February 2014 for the development of the airport.

Lalji Tandon was an Indian politician who served as the 18th Governor of Madhya Pradesh and 28th Governor of Bihar. He had also served as a member of parliament from 1996 until 2014 and as the Leader of the Opposition of the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh from 2003 until 2007. He was a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a protégé of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Purvanchal Expressway</span> Indian expressway connecting Lucknow and Ghazipur

Purvanchal Expressway is a 340.8 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The expressway connects Chand Saray village near Gosainganj in Lucknow district with Haydaria village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district. It is developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The Purvanchal Expressway has a 3.2 km long airstrip at Akhalkiri Karwat village near Kurebhar in Sultanpur district for emergency landing of aircraft. The construction work was started by the UPEIDA on 10 October 2018 and was inaugurated and opened to the public on 16 November 2021.

Located in Lucknow, the Vidhan Bhavan is the seat of the bicameral legislature of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The lower house is the Vidhan Sabha and the upper house is called the Vidhan Parishad or the. The Vidhan Sabha had 431 members until 1967, but now comprises 403 directly elected members and one nominated member from the Anglo-Indian community. The Vidhan Parishad has 100 members.

Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj is an Arjuna awardee Indian professional Para-Badminton player currently ranked world No.2 in men's singles and silver medalist in SL-4 category in Tokyo Paralympics 2021. Suhas is also an IAS officer of the 2007 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre, he is presently serving as District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar. He has also served as the District Magistrate of Prayagraj. He became National Champion after winning gold medal in Men's Singles category at second National Para Badminton Championships held at Varanasi in March 2018. He is also an engineer who graduated from National Institute of Technology. He is the only IAS officer in India to win a Paralympic medal and an Arjuna Award.

Rajive Kumar is a retired 1981 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Kumar is currently serving as the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority and previously served as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, in addition to serving as Shipping Secretary of India.

Kasganj violence took place on 26 January 2018, in Kasganj, a district in Western Uttar Pradesh, when 22-year-old student of commerce named Chandan Gupta died by gunshot of an Islamist in a Muslim-majority locality of Kasganj during an "Tiranga bike rally" organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the state to mark the 69th Republic Day.

The Gorakhpur Mahotsav, is an annual cultural festival, held in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is held every year in January. Since 2018, Mahotsav is organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (UP), Department of Culture (UP) and District Administration of Gorakhpur. Earlier editions were organized by District Administration of Gorakhpur.

Uttarakhand Day also referred to as Uttarakhand Divas, is celebrated as the state foundation day of Indian state Uttarakhand. It is observed annually on 9 November.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University</span> State University in India

Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University, Gorakhpur, formerly State Ayush University, Uttar Pradesh, is an affiliating State University located in Gorakhpur. It was established through the Uttar Pradesh Act No. 6 of 2020, specializing in Ayurveda, yoga & naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and homoeopathy (AYUSH). It was renamed as Maha Yogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University, Gorakhpur by the Uttar Pradesh Act No. 6 of 2021.

Madhya Pradesh Day is a state holiday which is celebrated in 1 November on the occasion of formation of Madhya Pradesh.
