The discography of American melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust includes two studio albums, three compilation albums, four extended plays, five singles, one live video album, and three music videos. [1] [2] The original line-up recorded a demo tape in November 1996, but failing to secure a record deal, the band parted ways in February 1997. [1] [3] After reforming later that same year, but with a new line-up, [4] [5] the band recorded one new song and combined it with some of the demo's songs to create its debut EP, The Fists of Time , for Belgium's Good Life Recordings in July 1998. [3] In December 1998, As Friends Rust released a split with Discount, also on Good Life. [3] [6] [7]

Contents

The band signed with American record label Doghouse Records and released the eponymous EP, As Friends Rust , in September 1999 (co-released by Good Life in Europe). [8] [9] [10] [11] This was followed by a series of reissues of its early material, starting with Eleven Songs on Japan's Howling Bull Entertainment in October 1999, [12] [13] The Fists of Time: An Anthology of Short Fiction and Non-Fiction on Doghouse in June 2000, [14] [15] and Eleven Songs on England's Golf Records in October 2001. [16]

In March 2001, Doghouse issued the single Morningleaver / This Is Me Hating You as part of the Doghouse Fan Series. In October 2001, As Friends Rust's debut full-length album, Won , was released by Doghouse / Defiance / Howling Bull. [17] [18] [19] The band next signed with American record label Equal Vision Records and released the EP A Young Trophy Band in the Parlance of Our Times in May 2002. [20] [21] A concert during the Won tour with Strike Anywhere was filmed and released in December 2002 as Camden Underworld, London – 16 November 2001 by Punkervision. [22] [23] After considerable line-up changes, the band changed name to Salem in September 2002. [24]

As Friends Rust reunited in 2008. [25] [26] In 2014 and 2015, the band issued the compilation albums Greatest Hits? (on Cosmic Note, D'Kolektif and Shield Recordings), [27] [28] and The Porch Days: 1998 to 2000 (on Demons Run Amok Entertainment). [29] [30] In 2020, As Friends Rust recorded and released its first new material in eighteen years with the EP Up from the Muck , which was released on Unity Worldwide Records in July 2020 and Stick to the Core in May 2023. [31] [32] On June 22, 2023, the band released the single "Positive Mental Platitude", [33] the first song from its sophomore full-length album, Any Joy , originally scheduled for release on August 18, 2023, but delayed to September 8, 2023, via End Hits Records. [34] [35] The second single from Any Joy, "Final Form", was released on July 20, 2023, [36] [37] followed by "No Gods, Some Masters" on August 17, 2023. [38] [39] On October 18, 2024, the band released the single "Lost in Space," followed by "Skimming" on November 1, 2024, both from the extended play Lightless, released via End Hits Records on November 1, 2024. Further Seems Forever is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Pompano Beach, Florida. Over its initial eight-year run the band experienced several lineup changes, resulting in a different lead vocalist performing on each of their first three studio albums. Original singer Chris Carrabba recorded The Moon Is Down (2001) with the group before leaving to focus on Dashboard Confessional. He was replaced by Jason Gleason, who performed on How to Start a Fire (2003) but left the band the following year. Former Sense Field vocalist Jon Bunch joined Further Seems Forever for Hide Nothing (2004). The band broke up in 2006 but reunited four years later with Carrabba on vocals. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.

German record label Defiance Records licensed the rights to the extended play for the European market, though these compact disc and 12" vinyl editions were released a day earlier than the American one, on May 27, 2002.

It was originally released by Belgian record label Good Life Recordings on July 13, 1998, on compact disc and 10" vinyl. American record label Doghouse Records reissued the release, under the expanded title The Fists of Time: An Anthology of Short Fiction and Non-Fiction, on compact disc, 12" vinyl and digitally, with new artwork and two additional songs, on June 22, 2000. In promotion of the release, As Friends Rust toured the United States, United Kingdom and Europe several times between June 1998 and September 2000. The bands that accompanied As Friends Rust on these tours include Discount, Dillinger Four, Strike Anywhere, Grade, Ensign, Ignite, Good Clean Fun, Garrison, Glasseater, Mid Carson July, The Agency, Purusam, Fast Times and Keith Welsh.

The eponymous extended play was the band's first output as part of an exclusive three-record contract with Toledo, Ohio-based record company Doghouse Records. As Friends Rust was licensed by Doghouse Records to various foreign markets, beginning with Belgian record label Good Life Recordings, which released the extended play on compact disc and double 7-inch vinyl several months earlier in July 1999. The European edition features a bonus song and a different artwork, but was erroneously promoted by Good Life Recordings as God Hour, though that title never appeared on the actual release. Doghouse Records also licensed As Friends Rust to Japanese record label Howling Bull Entertainment, which released a compact disc edition on October 5, 1999, and British record label Golf Records, which released a compact disc edition on October 22, 2001; these versions included six additional songs, a different artwork, and were promoted under the title Eleven Songs.

Damien Zev Moyal is an American vocalist, lyricist, musician, songwriter, and designer. Born in Amstelveen, North Holland, Netherlands, he moved to the United States as a child and grew up in Miami, Florida, where he notably fronted such hardcore punk, metallic hardcore, and melodic hardcore bands as Shai Hulud, As Friends Rust, Morning Again, Culture, Bird of Ill Omen, and Bridgeburne R. Moyal has been based in Ann Arbor, Michigan since 2006, and is the founding member of the semi-eponymously named gothic rock/post-punk band Damien Done.

Won is the first full-length album by American melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust. It was released on compact disc, 12-inch vinyl and digitally by American record label Doghouse Records on October 23, 2001. German record label Defiance Records licensed the rights to release the album on compact disc and 12-inch vinyl for the European market, though this edition was released a week earlier than the American one, on October 15, 2001. Japanese record label Howling Bull Entertainment also licensed the rights to release the album for the Asian market; this compact disc edition was released even earlier, on October 5, 2001, and includes two bonus tracks.

The concert was filmed on November 16, 2001 at the Underworld in Camden Town, London, England. The event was part of a five-week European and United Kingdom tour shared by the two bands while promoting their debut full-length albums: As Friends Rust's Won and Strike Anywhere's Change Is a Sound.

The Rocking Horse Winner was an American indie rock band based in Davie, Florida. The band was formed in mid-1999, by guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Henry Olmino, bass guitarist Jeronimo Gomez, drummer, keyboardist and percussionist Matthew Crum, and vocalist Jolie Lindholm. At various times, the band also included guitarist Oliver Chapoy, drummer Steve Kleisath, and vocalist Kristen Lindholm. The band broke up in March 2003, though it was not announced publicly until May 2003.

Eleven Songs is a compilation album by American melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust. It was originally released on compact disc by Japanese record label Howling Bull Entertainment on October 5, 1999. At the time of its original release in 1999, Eleven Songs was considered somewhat of a discography, since it included all but a single song of what As Friends Rust had released; the Circle Jerks cover "Operation" was omitted.

The current lineup features Moyal, Laura Jane Leonard and Tyler Kane.

Originally from Talkeetna, Alaska, he moved around in his childhood before settling in Tampa, Florida as a teenager, and later made his home in Gainesville, Florida. While in Gainesville, he notably played bass guitar and provided backing vocals in the melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust from 1998 to 2000, and in the hardcore punk band Bridgeburne R from 1999 to 2000. Stewart took part of As Friends Rust's reunion in 2008, and remained with the band until 2019.

After a brief stay in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he played in the hardcore band Bloodpact, Kirkpatrick moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1997, and joined metallic hardcore band Culture and melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust, both with vocalist Damien Moyal.

Dutch record label Shield Recordings re-issued the compact disc and issued a 12-inch vinyl and digital editions for the European market on April 29, 2015, though this version omitted three songs due to vinyl time constraints.

In 2011, Gomez married former The Rocking Horse Winner bandmate Jolie Lindholm.

As Tradition Dies Slowly is the debut full-length album by American metalcore band Morning Again. It was released on compact disc and 12-inch vinyl by American record label Revelation Records on June 30, 1998. It was the band's first release to enter music charts, reaching number 22 and spending nine weeks on CMJ New Music Report's Loud Rock chart, and reaching number 50 on FMQB's Metal Detector Pure Spins chart. The album was subsequently re-issued digitally by Revelation Records, and was later repressed on 12-inch vinyl on July 9, 2015, and again on January 22, 2019.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Simmons grew up in Coral Springs, Florida, where he notably played in the hardcore punk bands Dinner Time and Lock Down, the sludge metal band Bird of Ill Omen and the metallic hardcore band Morning Again. He later moved to Gainesville, Florida, where he played in the metallic hardcore bands Culture and Some Sort of Radio, the melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust, and the emotional hardcore / post-hardcore band Salem.
