Synchronized swimming, also known as artistic swimming, is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by World Aquatics. It has traditionally been a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and European Aquatics introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. From 2024, men are able to compete in the team event at the Olympics.
Tunisia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1960, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games except when they participated in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. The nation has never participated in any Winter Olympic Games.

Karin Larsen is a Canadian broadcaster and Olympic synchronised swimmer. She is currently a news and sports reporter for the Vancouver, British Columbia edition of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's evening news, CBC News at Six, for which she won a Leo Award in 1999. She competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics in synchronised swimming, was inducted into the BC Swimming Hall of Fame in 2001, and is the sister of Olympic silver medallist Christine Larsen.
Out To Swim is a British aquatics sport club offering swimming, water polo and artistic swimming club for predominantly LGBTQ+ people and allied members. The club was founded by AGM when the name was agreed in March 1992. In 2006 "Out to swim Brighton" was formed in Brighton and Hove and 2018 "Out To Swim West" in Bristol.

Amberger is a dual Olympian, having competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and is a Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, having claimed third place overall in the duet event with Sarah Bombell at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Burtaev competed for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and represented the nation at the 2011 and 2013 World Aquatics Championships.
